Hiccup

My head was dazed after a day of reading about the wizarding world. I had lost track of time and was almost late for dinner, but I had to get out in the cold first.

Quickly finding my hat and gloves, I went outside in the already dark evening. The wind blew cold against my still warm cheeks, but this was nothing compared to the ever-lasting winter at Berk. Not many other students seemed to agree with me on the matter, as loud laughter rose from the Great Hall but no one was outside in the cold.

All except for one. A large man, both in length and width, was scurrying at the edge of the Forbidden Forest. Hagrid.

Because I had nothing sensible to do, I made my way over to the hairy giant.

"Aaaah Hiccup! Good ter see ya 'ere! T's been a long time now! Look how much you've grown!"

I looked down at my legs. Was I really taller or did Hagrid just say that?

"How ar ye doin'?"

"Thanks Hagrid. Yes, I'm great. I've been studying all day so I needed some fresh air."

He laughed. "Ah yes, you one of those smart types, eh? Well, good on you fer comin' outside for a bit. The weather is cold but great!"

I nodded. "I've been used to a lot more at home. Berk only gets warm when the houses are on fire again because there's been a dragon raid."

Hagrid blinked a couple of times and dropped the tools he was holding.

"Dragons? You've dragons at yer house?"

"Well, ye-"

Hagrid cut me off, quickly walking towards his hut. "Ye have to tell me everything! Come in, have a nice cuppa tea!"

Rapunzel

It was good to be back home again. When I arrived, my parents hugged me like they would never let go. I told them all about Hogwarts, the classes, and my friends. In the evenings, we would sit by the fire and they would tell me stories about the people of Corona. When it was day, I often went out into the city, playing tag with the children and baking pies with the elders. Oh, how I'd missed baking things myself.

But at night, I would stare up at the moon, hoping for Jack to appear like he promised. He had told us many times about his various fun with the kids, but this time I wanted to experience it myself.

The day before Christmas, I was outside wandering the hills around the castle. The big lake around us was frozen solid and my breath made little clouds in the air.

Oh! I should make a snowman for Jack!

Immeadiately excited by my idea, I gathered as much snow in the nearby vicinity as possible and began shaping a snowman-body.

"That looks like one mighty snowman, Rapunzel."

The voice startled me for a second, but a smile crept on my face as I turned around and saw Jack standing there, leaning against a tree. I guess I must have missed him earlier.

I was going to run to hug him, but his smile turned into a frown and with a loud groan, he collapsed onto the ground.

"Jack!"

I hurried over to him, and that's when I noticed it. His skin seemed darker, almost grey, and his white hair looked darkened as well. He was holding his left arm and as I lifted his hand, a gaping wound could be seen.

"Jack, what happened? Who did this?"

He coughed and looked up at me. Even his eyes were a different colour. Almost... yellow.
