*Third person pov*

-Gilbert house-

Lydia stood in the Gilbert home with Caroline, Stefan and Damon, Elena was upstairs with her brother. Lydia didn't know how to feel at the moment, she was in a state of shock and she couldn't imagine how Elena was feeling.
Caroline was talking to Stefan when Elena marched into the kitchen, banging open cupboard doors as she looked for something.

"Do you need any help finding something Elena?.." Caroline asked giving Stefan a look of uncertainty.
"Found it." She answered back as she pulled out a bottle from the cupboard. Lydia could see the flammable warning symbol on the side, she pieced together what Elena was going to do.
She was going to burn her house down.

"Woah woah Elena stop." Stefan said as he figured out what she was doing as well. Elena ignored him and started pouring the liquid all over the house.
Lydia didn't know what to do, no words could come out of her mouth as she watched her friend slowly breakdown. Elena talked as she poured the flammable liquid on the couch and all over Jeremy.

"Elena please stop!" Lydia finally got out, going to reach for the brunette girl but she was stopped by an arm wrapping around her waist. Stefan knew Elena wasn't stable at the moment and he didn't want Lydia getting hurt so he held her back.

"Elena stop." Stefan said, holding Lydia protectively behind him. They watched as Elena lit a match, tears streaming down her face.
"There's nothing here for me anymore Stefan! Every inch of this house is full of memories of the people I love that have died.." Elena started Stefan looked at Damon silently telling him to do something.

"Elena listen to me, I want you to turn it off." Damon told Elena, Lydia's jaw dropped. What the actual hell is going on in his head?!

"Damon no.." Lydia started but it was too late, Elena had already flipped the switch. Elena Gilbert had officially turned off her humanity.

After a little while Caroline had left to go home, Damon Stefan and Lydia stayed with Elena. Stefan took Lydia outside as Damon talked to Elena inside.
Lydia watched as a bright flame shot up behind the window, she was burning her house down. Lydia felt horrible, Elena had just lost the last person in her family and now she's burning down her house.

Damon walked out behind an emotionless Elena, the flames getting bigger as the fire spread. Stefan sent Damon a worried look before wrapping his arms around Lydia and speeding back to the boarding house.
Lydia walked towards Stefan's dresser and grabbed one of his shirts, pulling it over her head as she crawled into his bed.

"What's gonna happen now?" Lydia whispered as Stefan walked in a moment later. He let out a sigh and shook his head.
"I have no idea.." he whispered, along his shirt off and climbing into the bed with her.
"For right now, we're not going to think about anything...apparently sleeping is the only normal thing we can do now so I'd like to be normal with you right now" Stefan told her as he wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her closer to him.
Lydia smiled and nodded, placing a quick kiss on his lips and she placed her head on his chest. The two drifted off into a peaceful sleep, they definitely need it because tomorrow was gonna be a rough day.

-Next day-

Lydia woke up to an empty bed, it didn't bother her as much because she figured Stefan would be trying to get an emotionless vampire under wraps.
Quickly throwing on clothes she'd left there from a previous night, she slowly made her way downstairs and into the kitchen.

Lydia immediately smiled when she saw a plate full of pancakes, a bowl of blueberries, a can of whip cream and a note from Stefan.

Lydia,

Caroline and I are at the school keeping an eye on Elena, I know you want to help but you were too cute to wake up and I wanted you to get some rest. I made you your favourite breakfast so you would be happy after getting mad at me for leaving you out of this..
I love you and I'll see you later today

Lydia smiled as she finished reading the note, rolling her eyes at his dorkiness. She smiled though as she smelt the pancakes, letting her grumbling stomach take the lead, she sat down and immediately started eating her pancakes.
He phone buzzed beside her as she got a text, checking the message while stuffing her face she saw a text from Caroline and Stefan.

They both said that the sire bond wasn't working anymore and that Elena was spiralling out of control. They were trying to find ways to turn her humanity back on.
Lydia sighed as she read the texts, Stefan was right, she needed to go back to sleep.

After cleaning up her mess she headed to her car to go help her friends with the Elena problem. The whole way to the school, Lydia kept thinking of ways to get Elena's humanity back. She pulled up to the school and saw Stefan stab Elena with vervain, well that's one way to catch her.
Now they either needed to find a nice way to get her to turn her humanity back on or they would torture her until she gives in.
