-Winter Wonderland-
Lydia walked aimlessly around the party, everyone was having a good time but Lydia was not. She could feel a lot of death coming, actually she felt it already here.
She started thinking about who it could be, it wasn't anyone she knew or she would've written or seen their names. Lydia made her way away from the crowd, walking towards town in hopes that she'd run into someone she knew.
She heard the voices again, the sounds in her head, they were leading her somewhere. She decided to follow them.Lydia found herself by the edge of the forest, she heard a scream from within but she couldn't move. She felt a scream coming up and it wasn't going to be nice. She heard more screams as tears started streaming down her face, why couldn't she move?
Suddenly everything stopped, there weren't anymore screams, uh oh. Lydia let out a shaky breathe, taking in another deep breathe she screamed. She fell to the ground after her scream stopped, tears fell from her eyes as she stared at the forest. Someone just died, a lot of someones.
-Back to the party-
Lydia slowly made her way back to the party, she felt drained after that. As she made her way back, she heard water splashing, a sharp pain stung through her. Someone else was dying.
Carol. That's all she could think about.
"Oh no no no no no" she whispered out, more tears falling down her face as she ran.The feeling got stronger, the voices and the noises kept getting louder. Lydia's eyes were blurry from the tears and her feet hurt from running but she kept going.
She rounded the corner and saw what would haunt her dreams. Her supposed friend holding her mothers head underwater."Klaus? Klaus stop stop please stop" Lydia cried as she ran towards them. He looked up, letting go of Carols head and whispering an apology. With that he had vanished, Lydia ran as fast as she could to her mother, pulling her head out of the fountain.
Lydia pulled her mothers head onto her lap as she sat on the ground, she cried and screamed for help but no one came.Another scream ripped through her body, it was as bad as when she lost her dad. Lydia cried and kept shaking her mom, hoping this was just a joke, hoping she would wake up and tell her everything was okay.
Lydia felt a hand on her shoulder, she pushed it off not even looking to see who it was."Lydia.." she heard a familiar voice, Stefan.
She shook her head and held her mother closer to her.
"I never said I loved her-I never even called her mom Stefan, and now I can't she gone.." she choked out, more tears falling from her eyes.
"You can say goodbye Lydia, just let me help you okay.." he whispered kneeling on the ground, tears pooling in his own eyes. She just nodded."Take my hand and hold Carol's as well, I'm going to take us into her mind. When someone dies, a human dies, they stay in a state between life and death for a few minutes figuring out what to do next. She will still be there..you can say whatever you need to say to her but you have to be quick okay.." she nodded quickly, Tyler wasn't here so she would say goodbye for both of them.
(I'm making this up so just roll with it)-In Carol's head-
A white light blinded Lydia for a second and then everything went clear. She was in a white room, Stefan stood beside her. She grabbed onto his hand and looked around, Carol stood facing the other way a few meters away.
"Mom?" Lydia asked, Carol turned around surprised.
"Lydia?" She asked, tears filling her eyes, she just called her mom.
Lydia let go of Stefan's hand, a smile on her face as she ran to hug her mother.
"I'm so sorry I couldn't save you, I'm sorry-" Lydia cried as she held on tightly to her mom."Lydia stop, this is not your fault. You didn't do this to me. Listen sweetheart, I want you to listen to me very carefully. I know that you've been through a lot, you've lost a lot of people, you've put yourself in danger to save others but you can't save everyone. You are by far the strongest woman I have ever met, you and Tyler have both made me so proud and if there is one thing that I know for sure, it's that whatever you do in life..I'll always be watching over you. I love you both so much and I need you guys to stick together, to protect each other. Can you promise me that?" She asked with tears streaming down her face.
"I promise...I love you mom" she whispered, more tears falling from her eyes.
"I love you to sweetheart, I love you and I love Tyler more than anything, please tell him that." She told her breaking daughter.
Lydia nodded trying to act strong, Carol faced Stefan next.
"Promise me you'll take care of her" she told him with a watery smile:
"I promise...I love her too and I would never let anything happen to her" he promised, smiling a little at his confession. Carol smiled as she heard him say he loved her, she was confident that her children would be there for each other, that they would protect each other, she was at peace. The room started getting brighter, Lydia grabbed Carol's hand saying I love you mom one last time before everything disappeared.
When Lydia opened her eyes she saw her moms head on her lap, a small smile on her face. Stefan grabbed Lydia's hand, pulling her to stand after she placed Carols head carefully on the ground."I love you Lydia Lorraine Martin, more than anything" he told her with teary eyes, Lydia let out a small smile, her tears falling down as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
"I love you too Stefan, more than anything".
