                 •Why do you think I'm here?•

*3rd person pov*

-Lockwood mansion-

Lydia had grabbed her bags earlier and was now lying on her bed in her new room.  She tried to sleep, she wanted to so badly but the fear of having another nightmare kept her awake.  The Lockwood don't know she's a banshee, she can't wake up screaming like one.

Another reason why she couldn't sleep was because she could hear Carol and Tyler arguing downstairs.  Obviously he wasn't taking the news that his mother had a child with another man while she was still married. I wouldn't have either to be honest.
After the yelling died down Lydia decided to explore the place. She knew she had school the next day but she wasn't going to get any sleep anyway so why not.

She walked down the hallway peaking around the corner to see if anyone was there.
There wasn't anyone so she kept exploring, she eventually stopped in front of a room. It had two big glass doors that she looked through to see what was in it.
It looked like an office.  She was about to open the door when she heard someone clear their throat.  "Do you need help finding something?" It was Tyler who spoke.  "Oh uh I'm okay thanks, I'm sorry I couldn't sleep so I was just looking around I didn't mean to wake you up" she quickly spit out kind of embarrassed she got caught.

He smirked at how she rambles out her words obviously intimidated. He took a couple steps until he was beside her staring into his dads office.

"This is my dads office.."  Lydia saw him staring into the room so she did as well.
"Not many people are allowed in here but seeing as how you live here now I can show you inside of you want?" Tyler spoke again not looking at Lydia.
Lydia wondered why people weren't allowed in there? Maybe he didn't want people touching his stuff?  Lydia nodded when he looked over at her.

He opened the door and switched on the light moving to the side to let his half sister in.  Lydia walked in and slowly walked around while looking at everything. She stopped when she saw a picture of Carol and who she assumed was Tyler's dad.
Tyler saw her looking at the picture of his parents, he thought about his dad and what a dick he was but he was still his dad and Tyler missed him.
"They look happy" Lydia whispered more to herself than anyone else, she wondered what it would've been like if Carol had stayed with her dad.  Her thoughts were interrupted when Tyler spoke up again

  "They were"
Lydia didn't understand what he meant by were. She looked at him with confusion written all over her face, obviously Tyler noticed because he spoke again "He died a little while back..".
Lydia didn't really know Tyler that well but once those words left his mouth she felt bad for him, she knew how he felt.

"Mine died a couple of days ago". She whispered, she looked away trying push her tears back not wanting Tyler to see her cry.
"I'm sorry for your loss" he whispered back feeling the same way she did, he knew what it felt like.  "Can I ask you something?" He added on while sitting down on the couch watching the Martin girl.  She turned around and just nodded.  "Why are you here then? Why aren't you with your family and friends? Surely you couldn't have had a funeral in just a couple of days, didn't you want to say goodbye to him?"
He quickly asked silently slapping himself for being so forward and rude, the girl just lost her father give her a break he thought.

"He was an only child, I was an only child, I didn't have anyone else. I tried to stay with a friend but immediate family got first dibs and Carol apparently wanted me.."  she rushed out while sitting on the couch opposite of Tyler.  "Why do you think I'm here?" She asked.
He never really thought about why she was here, he was so angry with his mom for what she did he didn't really think about why she was here.
They sat in silence for a little while, it wasn't an awkward silence it was more of a thinking silence, they both had so much on their minds there wasn't really anything to be said.

"I'm sorry for being a dick to you, you don't deserve it.." Tyler whispered breaking the silence, Lydia could see he wasn't one for apologizing so she smiled and whispered back
"I'm sorry for coming into your life so abruptly, I mean I didn't really have a choice but still" she laughed a little causing Tyler to laugh a little too.  "Well we should probably get to sleep, mom likes to wake everyone up early so be ready for it" he laughed while standing up. Lydia stood up as well laughing along.

They both walked down the hall together talking about school until they reached their rooms, Lydia turned around before going into her room and whispered "Goodnight Tyler" he stopped and smiled say goodnight to her as well.
Lydia crawled back into her bed and smiled, maybe they would get along just fine. Her eyes started to droop closed, instead of fighting it she let them shut allowing her to finally fall asleep.
