*Lydia's pov*

-Lockwood mansion-

-Dream-

I was sitting at the dining room table eating dinner, Allison went to the washroom and my dad answered the door. Allison came back and I had a feeling something was about to happen.
It was all in slow motion, the second Deucalion cut her dads throat I screamed like a banshee.
I felt someone shaking me awake, I opened my eyes and saw Carol and Tyler standing in front of me. "We heard a scream Lydia so we ran in here and saw you thrashing around while screaming!" Carol said with concern but I could see something else in her eyes.
"That scream was too loud to be a human scream, so tell me Lydia what are you?" She asked again while pulling out a gun. Why does she have a gun??!!??

"I-well-i don't-uh" I stuttered over my words terrified, but what scared me even more was when the sheriff walked in holding her gun up as well with some tall man with bright blue eyes walking in behind her.
"You're not human which means that you're supernatural, a monster, and I can't have monsters running around in my town.." Liz said while slowly walking forward.
As they both pointed their guns at me I had the urge to scream, so that's what I did. I screamed.

I jumped awake, without screaming this time, just as Carol had opened my door. She smiled when she saw me already awake but that smile quickly faded when she saw how distressed I was.
"Hey is everything alright? Did you have a nightmare?" She asked while slowly walking forward, not sitting beside me though I know she wanted to. "Yeah it was just a dream but I'm fine thank you" I answered calmly, hoping she wouldn't pull a gun on me.

"Okay well I made some pancakes for breakfast and then Tyler will drive you to and from school, after you could probably unpack...I could help if you want?" She told me while taking another couple of steps closer.
I could see that she was really trying to get to know me so why not eh?
"Okay well one, I love pancakes, two, Tyler and I talked last night about life and we got along really well so you don't have to worry about us, and three, I would love if you helped me unpack after school!" I said all in one breathe. I've never seen someone smile so big before.
"Sounds like a plan, anyway Tyler will be leaving at about 8:30, he likes to play basketball with some friends before class and I'm sure that'll give you some time to get acquainted with your surroundings at school, I have a gift for you downstairs so whenever you're ready" she spoke while turning around heading back out so I could get ready, obviously she was feeling a lot more confident now that I said I wanted her help.

I got up after she closed the door and started getting ready. First impressions are always important so I was going to show them who Lydia Martin really is.

After I got changed and did my makeup I headed downstairs, I stopped at the bottom having no idea which way the kitchen was, I didn't find it during my adventure yesterday.
Thankfully Tyler saw me standing at the bottom of the stairs looking quite confused.

"Kitchen is this way" he pointed with a smirk while walking down the last couple of steps.
I followed him with slightly red cheeks embarrassed that I was caught once again. Walking into the kitchen I was in awe. Where the hell did these people get the money for all this?! My thoughts were stopped short when I spelt the glorious scent of pancakes.
Oh my god I love pancakes!

"Tyler tells me you are having a little trouble finding your way around this house? Perhaps after we've unpacked everything I'll give you a tour of the rest of it?" She asked me while placing a plate with two pancakes in front of me. "There's more?!" I asked shocked, from what I've seen so far this house is huge and now there's more? Carol smiled and turned around to make some coffee before answering
"I guess being the mayor has its perks!" Mayor? Mayor? She's the mayor? Like mayor of this town or like mayor of Sunday night book club? I shoved those thoughts away and started buttering my pancakes.

I saw blueberries so I went to reach for them but someone beat me to it. Tyler likes blueberries on his pancakes too? It appears we have more in common than I thought. He passed me the blueberries after watching me grab them greedily, letting out a little laugh as he started eating his pancakes.
The ride to school was quick. We were in some really expensive car that goes really fast so our ride was quick.

"I'll walk you to the office and I'll call Caroline while you get your timetable" he told me while parking the car. I gave a quick nod and then grabbed my bag getting out of the car.
I looked around at the school. It was pretty big and there were so many people outside.
I never get nervous on the first day of school why am I now? Maybe because I don't know anybody? Maybe because they don't know me? I was brought out of my thoughts by Tyler nudging me. I seemed to get lost in my thoughts quite frequently now.

I looked over at him and he smiled seeing how nervous I was so he told me to stick by him while we go to the office.
Was he the popular kid? Was that why he told me to stay by him, so no one would judge me for being a loner? Of course he's the popular kid, he's rich and his moms the mayor!
We walked into the school, and slowly started making our way to the office when we were stopped by some blonde jock.

"Hey Ty who's this? Your new toy?" He said while looking me up and down. I was about to start going off on him for calling me a toy but Tyler beat me to it.
"How about you go pick on someone else Brandon, she's new here and I'm showing her to the office" he spit out with a mean look in his eyes. I was surprised he looked so angry, we barely even knew each other.

*Tyler's pov*

I was walking with Lydia when we got stopped by Brandon, some kid on the football team. Here we go I thought.
"Hey Ty who's this? Your new toy?" He said while looking Lydia up and down. For some reason I got really angry, protective even. Why should I be, I barely even know her? Before I could stop myself I was already telling him off.
Lydia looked surprised by what I just did, I was surprised. I shook it off and nudged her to follow me to the office. When we entered the office lady looked up and smiled
"You must be Lydia".
