Angelica looked at her wrist and groaned, "It's just a birthmark." She mumbled to herself even though she knew otherwise. She sighed and lied back down, half dressed, she had no motivation to get up but she knew she had to get going to the party she had been personally invited to by her friend Thomas Jefferson. She had met him briefly in France a few years ago and they talked about politics in their letters to each other and had stayed in contact, she was even invited to his wedding though she couldn't make it since she was in London at the time.

She groaned and sat up again, running her hand along the star shape on her wrist, most people had complicated shapes since it was a unique shape shared only with soulmates but she just had a star. She was the only one she knew who had a simple shape but she was also the only one she knew who hadn't found their soulmate.

Eliza and Peggy, her younger sisters, have both already found their soulmates and married. Eliza married a British soldier named John Andre while Peggy has married their cousin, Stephen Van Rensselaer. If it was this easy for them then why was she lonely? Why?

A clock tolled so she got up and finished getting dressed, pulling on her pink front-zone dress which was reserved for parties and special occasions only. She flopped into her vanity seat and did her hair before doing some light makeup. This would do, it's just a ball to celebrate the revolutionary war's recent victory.

"Do I even have a soulmate?" She asked herself in the mirror before getting up since it obviously didn't work. Angelica pulled her white shoes on before going down the stairs, "I'm going off to the Washington's now, I'll be taking a carriage!" She didn't know who she was shouting that to but somebody was bound to hear her.

She went out and got the people she needed to drive the carriage and such before climbing in, she had heard something about a house for only the president to live in that was called the White House and she was excited to see it. She didn't have much to do for the carriage ride so she was bored until she arrived at her destination. The door opened and she stepped out, briefly thanking the man who opened it before she walked inside.

Angelica headed inside, holding herself as proudly as she could. She told the man announcing everybody her name and headed into the crowded ballroom. She sighed and immediately found an excuse to sit down, she didn't really want to interact with anybody but she did want to come, not that she could refuse as she was invited individually and refusing for no reason would be considered rude.

Angelica would've sighed again from boredom but a young man entered her vision, "A beauty like yourself being alone at a ball, this is a shame indeed!" He declared and grinned widely at her.

Angelica was never one to succumb to flirting to begin with so throwing this man off was an easy task for her, or so she thought, "I'm alone because I was invited personally, nobody accompanied me nor do I need a companion. I'm quite capable of entering and leaving a ball all on my own, thank you very much."

The man was thrown off but soon his grin grew almost tenfold as he sat down next to her, "My name is Alexander Hamilton and I never expected to meet a woman so eloquent with her words yet so beautiful and smart at a place like this. We should start over, you're far better than I expected."

"Expected?" Angelica crossed her arms with a smirk, "What? You saw a pretty face and assumed I'd be a dumb broad who was invited by some duke because I'm his fifth mistress?" She tilted her head as she waited for Alex to explain himself. Alexander however just looked away as he tried in vain to come up with a response to that but soon Angelica started laughing until she held his arm, "I'm just kidding, I know what you meant. I choose to take it as a compliment this time but it was an insult to all women that you assumed me to be an idiot. Do you dance?"

Alex nodded slowly while swallowing his confusion which was arising deep in his throat, "I do. Would you care to?"

"I wouldn't have asked if I didn't want to," She replied and let him lead her onto the dance floor. She was surprised he was a relatively good dancer and could keep up with her since she danced in such a way as to throw him off.

In fact, the night was going well after she and Alexander parted and she danced and flirted with other men. It was going well until she heard Alexander dissing her younger sister which made her blood boil. He was in a group, maybe four men maybe five she wasn't sure if one of the men at the end was in on the conversation or not, and somehow the topic got onto the topic of her family which wasn't that surprising because of their role in the war. It did, however, become a problem when Alex spoke up, "Well the middle girl...Elizabeth, is that her name?" He turned to a Frenchman who nodded, "Elizabeth Schuyler, that one, married a British soldier! What a traitor! Her family must be disappointed. She had promise too, she did, she was a very smart woman. Don't know why she made such an idiotic mistake though."

Angelica crossed the room quickly, "Excuse me?" She pushed her way into their little circle, "Elizabeth Schuyler is one of the smartest women in existence. She's nice, kind, and never speaks ill of others especially behind their back."

Alex rolled his eyes though Angelica could spot a small dot of fear and another of uncertainty in those intelligent brown irises, "Oh yeah? And what's smart about her? If she was kind she wouldn't have defected. Why do you care anyway?"

"I never introduced myself properly, my bad, my name is Angelica Schuyler," She saw his blood drain from his face, "Don't ever speak of my sister again or I'll find a way to ruin your career and drive your name into the dirt." With that, Angelica turned on her heels and stormed out.

She went to her carriage and had it start going while looking over her nails until the door was flung open and she sat up with a start, her eyes wide until she saw Alexander fucking Hamilton swing his way into the open seat. Instantly Angelica opened her mouth to verbally destroy him but Alex spoke first, "Please just-just a second. I'll be out in a second just..." He trailed off.

Angelica crossed her arms once more, "You have one minute and if I don't like what you're showing me or it's boring then I'm throwing you in prison with a homicide attempt charge, do I make myself clear?"

Alexander nodded immediately, "Of course, I understand." He then rolled his sleeve up to show a perfect star on his wrist which had Angelica freezing, "I-I actually was going to come find you tomorrow since my friend, you know him, George Washington, he told me you had the exact same mark as me. Was he right?"

Angelica slowly rolled her sleeve up before setting it next to Alex's, "Oh my God, it's you." Alex moved to kiss her but she put her hand over her mouth so he sat back, "First things first. You will not EVER speak about Eliza like that again and second, you will write to me by tomorrow afternoon since you have to get out now, the minute is up."

"I understand," And right after that, he leaped from the carriage without saying goodbye. Angelica waited a few moments to be sure he was gone before she burst into squeals and held her wrist to her chest.

She looked up at the ceiling of the carriage as it trotted by and sighed slowly, "It finally happened." She whispered.
