Trigger Warning: Robbery

Adrienne looked at her wrist and smiled widely at the number on it, 2,469, that might seem huge but it really isn't to her. Every person has a number on their wrist, every single person, and that number went down, never up, with each step their soulmate takes. When the number reaches zero, their soulmate is right in front of them. She was excited as any person should be, she'd looked it up over and over to try and figure out how many more days it would take her and the average amount of steps a person takes a day is 3,000 so with her number being 2,469 she was sure she'd meet them today though she wouldn't be surprised if it happened tomorrow instead since the average wouldn't be completely accurate.

Adri jumped from her bed and pulled her bland purple pajamas off to pull on a 50s style dress with no sleeves, tight-fitting chest but a belt around her belly button and after that the skirt fluffed out. The dress happened to be pink with little hearts all over it, hey, she's going to meet her soulmate today so she had to dress to impress! She strapped the belt and then plopped in front of the mirror, fluffing her hair before curling it.

Adri gave herself beach curls with the curling iron and put hairspray in before pulling her makeup bag out, applying it gently. She started out with a primer of course and then pulled out her liquid foundation which matched her skin perfectly, she applied it everywhere to hide anything she deemed an imperfection. Next was concealer which she just put under her eyes to hide the bags and then on her chin since it was breaking out. When she was done she did neutral eyeshadow with light blush and light brown lipstick and dark brown eyebrows, tying it all together with her trusty eyeliner pen which she used to give herself the perfect cat eyed wings.

"Okay," She put on setting spray before jumping up and putting her white flats on, "Time to get out there and find the one." She told herself, looking back at the deep brown eyes set on her face before running outside.

She glanced at her wrist again to see 1,376! It was definitely going to happen today! Quickly she tried to find something to do that involved being outside, in the end, she decided she needed a new concealer stick and maybe she could get some clothes? Plus when she was done she could go to some fast food place and get something for lunch.

So, Adrienne went to Walmart because she wasn't going to waste her money on overpriced stores when she could get the exact same thing at fucking Walmart. She hurried there and got a shopping basket, finding the makeup section and going to the Covergirl area because that's the only company that sold her color even though black women made up the most makeup consumers most companies still have two or three shades only for darker colors and fifty for lighter, it made no sense. While she was there she saw mascara and since she didn't have any she grabbed a few of them as well before going to the clothing section of the store.

Adri glanced at her wrist again and saw the number 28, her soulmate had to be in this store! The excitement made her want to run around to find them but she stayed in the women's clothing section somehow as her shaking hands added a silky blouse to her cart.

She was going to head to the checkout when she felt something sharp against her back and a voice spoke, "Your wallet, my hand, and you won't be hurt." Some man said into her ear. For just a moment Adri thought it was a joke since who robs somebody in the middle of a store? But the knife pressed into her shoulder slightly making her wince and nod.

Adri tried to pull her wallet from her bra where she kept it when she noticed the number zero on her wrist making her breath halt until she looked up at a man with curly black hair pulled into a ponytail with a pink sweater shirt on and a brown jacket. The man noticed her wrist and then cleared his throat, "I'm going to 'ave to ask you to let go of 'er, asshole." He said bluntly, Adri pinpointed his accent as French. Like her. Before Adrienne could react her soulmate pulled her to his chest and grabbed the man's wrist, twisting it so he dropped the knife. He looked down at her and said, "You alright? I'm Laf."

"A-Adri," She responded and swallowed to try and hydrate her dry throat, "I'm fine." She added and went with Laf to turn the guy into security. When he was apprehended she looked at Laf shyly and said a quiet thank you.

"So, you want to get out of 'ere and go to an amusement park?" He asked randomly and she blinked, confused, "I'm being serious." Laf chuckled and confidently took her hand making Adri's face flare up, "I 'as 'ave a season pass for weeks and nobody to go with since all my friends are busy. I was waiting for my soulmate to show up since the number was going down and yeah 'ere we are. Is that okay? Are you busy or do you not want to?"

Adri smiled, "No-No I do want to go I was just shocked for a moment and...I still need to buy this stuff and get it 'ome too." She motioned to her shopping basket to show him what she was talking about.

Laf nodded in understanding, "Alright! 'ere, I can buy that for you." He took the basket before she could argue and ran off with her rushing after him, "I just 'ave a lot of money so it is fine." He told her.

"A lot of money?" Adri mumbled to herself, watching him pay for her things with a tinge of guilt still present. Laf gave her a ride home and on the way, he informed her of his family inheritance and other things about himself that she found cool. It's sort of funny, where her shopping had led her that is.
