A gloom has settled on Eliza's heart, like a weight pulling her down into murky waters from which she could not swim out of. Her entire life has been controlled by her maternal instinct, she was sure she had developed it from a young age from the things she would say or do.  How she felt about a little sister, baby animals, and her constant want to care for innocent beings. The one thing she has dreamed of and wanted since the day she turned thirteen was to be a mother. Yet, for some reason, even though her entire being was devoted to a child, her doctors had told her she had cysts on her ovaries. What did this mean? Well, put simply it means she had a one in a million chance to conceive and even then she would most likely miscarry,

This was also a reason for extreme guilt in her current relationship with a Mr Alexander Hamilton. He dreamed of a legacy constantly, of a biological root into this world that proved he existed, children. He had made his dream known to Eliza constantly but she still never told him, never told him she would ruin those dreams. She didn't want it to be this way but she was scared he'd break up with her if he found out but she loved him.

Eliza's body was the reason he shouldn't want her but she could never tell him that. Everything about him was so so beautiful and she wanted a part of it all, would her inability to conceive really be that big of a hurdle that they couldn't live together? She loved him, she loved calling Alex her boyfriend, she liked pretending to sleep in his truck just to find out he cursed at potholes and carefully avoided them so as not to wake her, she liked-no, loved him. Her Alexander.

That all changed one day during a typical Tuesday. See, Tuesday happened to be Taco Tuesday in Eliza and Alex's house, they invited all their friends and Eliza's sisters every Tuesday. Usually, not all of them could make it but Eliza found herself surprised and delighted when she found out they were all coming! Every single one!

Tuesday started out normal, Eliza put heat pads on the table to protect the wood from the hot pots, three of them to be exact, full of rice, noodles, and taco meat. Then, some small bowls with sauces, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, onions, sour cream, guacamole, and all that good stuff. Alexander had bought special taco plates with duvets for soft or hard tacos just to make Taco Tuesday easier and Eliza had them set out, Alex had gotten the drinks.

Soon, Taco Tuesday had begun. Eliza laughed at everybody's joke, especially the shady one's John told in regards to his coworker, Charles Lee; "Then he looks at me with empty eyes like the community college drop out he is..."

It was normal until Alex stood up with his glass of wine and everybody quieted down, "Uh I-I had a whole speech but I forgot it all..." He said making some people laugh while Eliza felt his gaze burning into her skull, "But the reason I made sure every single one of you came today is because...Tuesdays are special to us. They bring us together and we eat tacos so I th-I thought Tuesday would be the best day for me to ask you, Eliza," He crossed the room and tears had already sprung her eyes as Peggy gasped next to her. He slowly went down on one knee, "To marry me." He told her, pulling a blue ring with diamonds encrusted onto it out of his pocket, holding it up to her.

Eliza stared at it, not sure what to say. Yes, was the choice she wanted, but how could she when she was hiding something so important from him? Her tears came easy and Alex was taking it as a yes but she got up and ran from the room in a bawling mess, shocked noises were elicited from what looked like a rejection.

Eliza threw open the door to her and Alex's bedroom, jumping onto the bed and crying into the pillow. She should've told him, she'd ruined it all, all they had she just lost. She didn't want to go but he wasn't who he'd choose if he knew. She just cried until her throat ached, screamed it wasn't fair into the pillow. She didn't know how long she was on that bed but the door creaked open and Alex walked in, "Alex I-"

"-No it-it's okay," Alex sat down, he smelled of whiskey and that made Eliza feel worse, "Everybody left and I...I guess it's too early? Did I freak you out? I'm so sorry. I just...I thought we were ready I can wait I-"

"-I want to say yes..." Eliza mumbled and looked away as Alex turned to her in shock, "I do but..." She looked away, "I-I can't I've been hiding something from you...something big. Something that might make you not want to be with me...definitely not marry me..."

Alex furrowed his eyebrows before taking her hands, "Elizabeth Schuyler...I fell in love with your eyes first. Those beautiful black eyes, so deep with intelligence. Time passed and I fell in love with your soul, something far more gorgeous than anything anybody could ever see on a physical level. I don't care what is it, I want a family with y-"

"-I CAN'T GET PREGNANT!" She cried out, breaking down again as Alex pulled his hand back for a moment, "S-So there's no way you could-no you can't I-I-no-" She clung to the pillow with one hand but covered her stomach with her other hand.

Alex quickly, firmly, and tightly pulled her into his arms, kissing her head as she sobbed onto his chest, "Oh Eliza...Eliza, I'm so sorry. You shouldn't have felt pressured by me..." He kept kissing her head, "I don't care about that. We can adopt or do surrogacy or both. I just want...I just want you." He kissed her head again, "Can I ask it again?" Eliza nodded slowly, trying to calm down. She wasn't hiccuping anymore but the tears still existed, "Will you marry me?"

Eliza smiled finally and looked up, kissing him and responding when he kissed her back, "Yes if-if you still want me." She told him, looking at the ring he pulled from his pocket for the second time.

Alex smiled, "No man could refuse you, my love." He told her, enveloping her in another kiss as they fell into bed, Eliza wanting to sleep and Alex just wanting to be close to her.
