Eliza was...alone. Above all else, she was alone. Her two sisters were married, Angelica to a man names John Church with which she had had her first child, a son named Philip Church. Peggy had gone on to marry to marry their cousin, Stephen Van Rensselaer III, and Eliza had in her hands the letter Peggy had sent her saying she was officially with child. Even Eliza's best friend, Theodosia Bartow, had a two-year-old daughter with her husband, Aaron Burr.

Eliza sighed and put the letter down, rubbing her face. Why was she so alone? She needed to forget this, she had a ball to get to. Theo and her husband were throwing a ball or party or something because the war had ended and Aaron was finally home. She pulled her gloves on and threw her hair up sloppily, she wasn't going to bother dealing with it.

Eliza headed out, alone. Her sisters were married and moved out, she was alone, still with her parents as all unmarried women were. She sat in the carriage and couldn't help but dwell on the coldness of it, always alone. She smacked her cheeks, "Eliza, stop." She ordered herself, forcing herself to smile.

The carriage stopped and she stepped out onto the cobblestone, heading inside with her head up high. She was announced and descended into the ballroom where she was immediately met with Theo's arms around her, "You made it!"

Smaller, chubbier arms grabbed her leg, "Awnt Ewiza!" Little Theo shouted, grinning her broken smile. Not all her teeth had grown in so she had small gaps in her toothy grin which she flashed at Eliza.

She picked Theo up and nodded, "Well of course. I could never miss any party you threw, you're my best friend. That would just be rude of me, would it not?" She smiled and kissed Little Theo's cheek.

Theodosia took her daughter carefully and nodded, "Yes. It would be extremely rude and I would never forgive you." She laughed and the two women hugged, Little Theo trying to join it making both of them laugh, "I'm going to go find Aaron, enjoy the party?"

Eliza nodded while swallowing back her jealousy, "Tell him I say hi." She said and Theo nodded, leaving. Eliza sighed and continued walking through the ballroom, her eyes found the floor and she tried to forget her woes.

A man stepped from his dance partner and Eliza felt a push to her back making her stumble, she lost one of her shoes but managed to stay on her feet. She looked up to see the man looking at her, "Oh-Are you okay?"

She nodded and slowly stood up properly, "U-Um yes. I'm fine...thank you for the concern." She smiled and then realized she should introduce herself, "O-Oh and I'm Elizabeth Schuyler.." She mumbled.

"Alexander Hamilton," He said and offered his hand, "Would you allow me this dance?" He asked with a smile, "As an apology for my accidentally pushing you?" He added with his charming smile shooting straight into her heart.

"O-Of course," She took his hand and let him pull her onto the dance floor with a huge flourish, her dress spinning as she giggled, her other hand easily finding his shoulder. Unbeknownst to them, that was the day Eliza found her soulmate.

Before she knew it, years had passed. A wedding, more parties, a war's end, a wedding anniversary and then another. Alexander was too busy though, far too busy, for the last thing Eliza wanted. She wanted a husband to end her loneliness, but now she wanted the last thing she needed. She'd seen Little Theo grow into a reading, smart girl, why couldn't it be Eliza's turn? She wanted a child, she needed a child, Alexander told her not yet every time she brought it up. Not yet? Why couldn't it be now?

Sure, they had sex but never seriously enough to confidently have a child. Eliza probably had a phantom pregnancy every five months. That's probably what she was going through now. Another phantom pregnancy, false hope, a joke. For the past three months, she'd been going through phantom symptoms.

Angelica had come over a few hours ago with her son, now two years old. Peggy had a one-year-old, also a son, his name being Stephen. Eliza would be lying if she said she wasn't jealous again but, she knew she couldn't grin and bear it since she had a husband finally.

Angelica drank her tea before looking up, "Does Alex know your pregnant?" She asked suddenly making Eliza snap her head up, "Do you even know you're pregnant?" She added, raising an eyebrow.

She shook her head quickly, "No-No I'm not." She said quickly, "I-I'm really susceptible to phantom pregnancies and...I-I'm going through that now. It's not a pregnancy-not a real pregnancy at least." She said quietly.

Angelica shook her head, "Lizzy, you are pregnant. Do you need a doctor to confirm it for you to believe it?" She asked. Eliza nodded and so Angelica got up and got both a doctor and Eliza's husband Alex.

"Angie says your pregnant?" He asked as he walked in, his book still in his hand, "I-I tried explaining your phantoms but she wouldn't listen. What's going on?" He asked, sitting down next to her.

"I honestly have no idea..." Eliza mumbled quietly, "I told her too but she told me that there's no way I'm right. Alex what if I am pregnant..? How do you feel about that?" She felt nervous and looked up at him.

"Well..." He shrugged and kissed her cheek, "I guess I'll just have to accept it and help you through it..and love you no matter what and-and be there for our child. That's all I think I can do...."

Eliza agreed and looked up as Angelica walked in again with the doctor, "Hello Mrs Hamilton, all I need is a small moment to determine if you are truly pregnant." Eliza nodded and let him examine her. He measured her stomach and her thighs weirdly enough, he put a stethoscope against her stomach too. In the end, he sat back and looked at them all before he nodded, "Congratulations, you're with child Mrs Hamilton." Angelica paid his fee as he left.

She turned to Alex in tears, her eyes turning red. Alex sat in shock before he slowly put his glasses on and looked at her properly, "I love you." He mumbled, pulling her into a kiss. Eliza held his hands and kissed back, continuing to cry as she came to terms with the life growing inside her.

"Are you finally done being jealous, Betsey?" Angelica teased, a smirk on her lips. Eliza looked at her and giggled, nodding. It had all come together finally and even if this is her only child, she had a child and she had a husband. Everything she ever wanted she now had.
