*Becca's POV*
I sat in fifth hour, listening to my social studies teacher talk about the Civil War. I tapped my pen. Haley was supposed to be here this hour. Where is she? The office chimed in and made an announcement.
"Rebecca, to the office please." I hated when people called me Rebecca. Becca is what everyone calls me.
"Becca, you make go." My heart raced, as anyone's does when they get called over the loudspeaker. My heart rate fastened as I got closer to the office. I opened the door and saw a very panicked Sam standing there.
"Becca, we are leaving. Haley got in a bad car accident and is in Life Support." He tells me as Hayes and Nash walk into the office. I broke down, right there.
"Hope everything gets better. Keep us updated." Mrs. Lawrence told us. Nash and Hayes had confused looks in their faces.
I ran to the car and hopped in the front seat. Sam sat in the drivers seat and Nash and Hayes sat in the back.
"What happened?" Hayes asked.
"Where's Haley?" Nash questioned. I broke down again. I started sobbing.
"Haley, well, she might not make it. She got into a bad, horrible car accident. It was the semi trucks fault." Sam said through pursed lips, trying not to cry.
"My fault." Nash whispered, almost in audibly.
"What?" I asked him.
"My fault."
"Nash? What do you mean?"
"It's my damn fault!"
"What the fuck happened!?" I yelled at him.
"She caught me. Kissing Lindsay. In the hallway. She broke up with me and left school after that." Nash started crying. I sat there in shock. I faced the front of the car. I kept my mouth shut.
"YOU CHEATED AGAIN?!" Hayes screams after a long silence occurred. Nash just nodded and bit his lip. He quit crying.
"She told me not to have the talk with you. Looks like I did need to. Look where she ended up. In the damn hospital on life support and you probably don't even give a damn." Sam said. He gripped the wheel tight and stared down the road in front of us.
"I do care!" Nash managed to say. Hayes sat there, silent. So did the rest of us. Not the radio on, nothing. Just the faint sound of us breathing and the sound of us driving.
After ten more dead silent minutes, we arrived at the hospital. I rushed in the doors and asked where she was. The lady told we on the third floor. They guys followed me up the stairs because the elevator was taking forever. I sprinted up the stairs- Soccer helped me with that one.
Once we got to the third floor, I looked around for doctors, nurses, anyone. I finally spotted a doctor and asked him where she was.
"Are all you guys immediate family or close, close people to her?"
"Yes, sir." I replied to the doctor.
"Room 345." I searched desperately for the door. I found it in the matter if seconds. I opened the door and saw he body lying there, lifelessly. The guys walked through the door, panting from the adventure on the stairs. I walked up to her. She had a breathing mask, liquids pumping into her body, an IV in her arm. The doctor walked through the door moments later. I couldn't move away from her. A best friend from womb age to sisters by senior year and still going. I couldn't manage to lose her. Hayes walked up next to me and wrapped his arm around my waist.
"She is in a coma. She will be for the next couple days. Careful in here. If you need anything, the nurse will stop by so often." The doctor said as he left the room. He was so calm. She was on life support and he was calm. It popped in my head he probably has been through this multiple times. I sat down on the chair right next to her bed. I sat there, wishing this was a just a bad nightmare. But it was reality, and I had to face it.
