As we walked around the lake. You could tell that Sirius wanted to know what I wanted to talk to him about. I was unsure of what exactly I wanted to say to him. I know I have feelings for him, but I was scared and unsure about everything. He was not being specific about how he feels about me.
"Do you want to go sit down?" Sirius asked pointing to the tree.
I nodded and sat down on a pile of leaves. You could feel the cool air. Fall was going to be ending soon and winter would begin. I knew my time would be running out soon. I have so much to do and so little time. I sighed and looked out onto the lake.
"So how was your date with that guy?" Sirius asked.
"Are you talking about Rich? You do know you went to school with him. He was in Gryffindor like you." I said trying not to laugh.
"Oh, I didn't know that. So, Richard is his name." Sirius said acting all uninterested.
"Yes, Richard is his name. The day was good. We talked, and I can see him as a good friend. It wasn't a date. No matter how much Livia wanted it to be." I told him.
You could see that all the concern in Sirius's face faded away once I said that. I couldn't help but snicker a little bit after that. He was so different from the stories I heard about him from everyone from my time. This was fun to see.
"Oh, that's good. It's a good thing to have lots of friends. Friends are good." He said smiling.
"Why do you care if it was a date or not Sirius?" I asked.
I already knew that answer but I wanted to see what he would say. Maybe he would admit something that I knew was true. Sirius looked at me and he spoke up and said,
"Well, I was just concerned about you. We all were, well at least James, Remus and myself. You were getting set up by Livia. You barely know her, and she doesn't have a great track record of setting people up. So, I just wanted to make sure that everything went alright."
I sighed and I at first thought that he was showing that he was concerned about me but of course he had to add the others in it. I knew in my gut that it was not right time to tell him my feelings. Mostly since he just thinks about me as a friend. I decided not to tell him anything about my feelings. I looked around and saw that there was a few first and second years coming out to grounds to relax. I got up and whipped off the leaves. Sirius quickly got up and looked at me confused.
"Wait I thought we were going to talk. Didn't you tell me you wanted to talk to me?" Sirius asked.
I gave him a look and said,
"I was but you just showed me that it was not time and that you only see me as a friend. So I will see you around buddy."
I walked away and headed back to the castle. I hoped I would find Ginny or Lily somewhere. I really needed to talk to someone. I turned the corner to go find Ginny, but I saw her with Regulus and I did not want to bother her. She was happy. I headed to the library to talk to Lily, but she was actually talking to James there and it looked like a serious conversation.
I did not know where to go or who to talk to. I just walked around the school and ended up on the seventh floor. I looked around and saw that no one was coming. I walked back and forth to make the Room of Requirement appear. I just wanted to be somewhere safe and comfortable. The room made itself turn into the Burrow. I sighed and thought about everything. There had to be someone to talk to. I looked down at a picture and smiled. It was a picture of Molly, Ginny, and myself. I really loved that picture of us. Then it hit me. I knew who I would be able to talk to.
I quickly ran up to Dumbledore's office and gave the statue the password. I took two steps at a time and knocked on Dumbledore's door. I heard a faint come in and there saw Albus Dumbledore himself. He smiled at me and asked,
"Can I help you Hermione dear?"
"Yes professor. I was wondering if I could have permission to leave school to see Molly Weasley?" I asked.
He gave me a look and then nodded and said,
"Hermione, of course you have permission. I give you permission to leave whenever it is necessary. After all you deserve it. You can use my fireplace whenever you need to."
I could not believe that he would allow me to do that. This was shocking. I sent a quick message to see if she was home and then I would floo over. I got the message back and looked back at Dumbledore and thanked him again.
"Thank you, Dumbledore."
"You are welcome Hermione. And don't worry about the teachers and curfew. I will make sure they know you are an exception." Dumbledore said.
I nodded and walked through the fireplace. I landed right in the middle of the Burrow. There stood Molly herself. She smiled at me and asked,
"What can I help you with?"
