Chp. 13

"Watching myself, drifting away visions so dark I cannot stare..."

"Ansel! Ansel are you okay Ansel answer me please!" I yell as I try to get my brother conscious again. He's the only family I have left.

"C'mon Ansel c'mon!" Theo yells pumping on his heart.

"God help me please!" I scream as I look at Ansel's lifeless body.

I'm sobbing like I have never sobbed before. Not even at my parents funeral.

"Reaching out wide, trying to catch myself before I fall, too little too late..."

"We have to call the cops." I tell Theo.

"We can't!" Theo yells back.

"Theo he's gonna die!" I yell.

"We can't get caught Sky I can take care of it now shut up!" He yells pushing me out of the way and going back to giving Ansel CPR.

"Can you save me, where do we go when we walk on life? Who do we call at the end of night? Carry me close like the teardrops in you eyes..."

I hate crying in front of Theo. It makes me feel weak. But I am weak. And I need to cry. It's been 5 minutes and there's still no sign of life.

"That's it," I begin, "Im calling the cops." I say and run to the car to grab my phone.

"Skylar no!" Theo yells but it's too late.

"911 what's your emergency?"

"Hi my brother was just hit by a car and we need help as soon as possible."

"Help is on the way dear."

"Thank you."

I hang up and I hear sirens in the distance.

"All I can give you is memories, carry them with you and I'll never leave. I'll lay my head down, lay my head down..."

The ambulance has approached and they put Ansel on the stretcher taking him to the hospital as Theo and I are in the back. They haven't questioned us yet but I know soon they will.

He sits next to me still as can be, so I take my hand with his and intertwine our fingers trying to relax him. I lay my head on his shoulder till we arrive at the hospital.

They take Ansel as a cop approaches Theo and I.

"We're going to need to ask you two some questions." They say as they take us to a separate room.

"Did you see who hit your brother?" The first cop asks me.

"It was us but we couldn't see him walk past since he was dressed in all black." I answer as he writes it down.

"Who was driving?" He asks.

"I was." Theo answers.

"Aren't you the guy from that movie?" The cop asks Jim looking back and fourth between us two.

"Yes." Theo answers.

"And what are you doing with a 15 year old girl?" The second cops asks.

"Family friend." Theo says.

There it is. The first lie of the interrogation.

"Is this true Ms. Elgort?" He asks me.

"Yes." I lie.

"Okay thank you for your time." They say and escort us out.

"I can't stay here Sky." Theo says.

"W-what do you mean?" I ask.

"I have to go." He says.

"No. No you can't leave me. I need you right now." I raise my voice.

"Just call me when he's better and I'll get you." He says.

"But I want you here," I take his hand, "With me." I smile at him tears coming out of my eyes.

He let's go of my hand, "I'll see you soon." He says and walks out the door leaving me an emotional wreck.

"Don't Let Me Go, Hold me in your beating heart, I won't let go, Forever is not enough, Let me Katy head down on the shadow by your side, Don't Let Me Go, Hold me in your beating heart."

Woah. Intense and long. So the song is Don't Let Me Go by Raign it was in The Vampire Diaries when Stefan died and I cried for hours. Hope you liked this chapter please leave a vote and feedback and I'll love you forever.
