Chp. 28

Say Anything ~ Tristan Prettyman

Skyliar's POV

"So why Southport?" I ask.

"Alright little fun fact okay? Have you seen the movie Safe Haven?" He asks.

"Yes.." I answer.

"Well the town she ends up at is Southport, North Carolina." He finishes.

'No way!" I say.

"Yes it's true." He laughs as I do the same.

I always thought that was the most amazing little place ever and I wanted to visit it. Well here I am! On my way there. It's just weird to think that I am going there with the Deputy of my town. Alone. I personally don't know why he came but then againg I do. To protect me.

"There's tons of people in this world that are angry now. At Theo and at you." He says.

"But I didn't do anything." I say.

"That your memory holds." He sighs.

"What are you talking about?" I ask.

"There's some things you said to me that went public. Things that people think are wrong and just they're angry Skylar." He tells me.

"What did I say?" I ask as he stays quiet for a while, "Hello did you hear me?" I ask getting impatient.

He sighs, "Skylar, let me put it this way. You're not a virgin." He says as my eyes go wide.

"Wait I- I had sex with him?" I ask.

"Yeah you did. And you told me you don't regret it." He says as I shake my head and look out the window.

"Are you kidding me?" I ask.

"Unfourtuately no." He says as I sigh, "I'm sorry Skylar." He says.

"I'm just gonna go to sleep." I say and lean my head against my against the window.

*9 hours later*

"Skylar. Skylar get up." I hear a voice as I am being shooken awake and look up to see Parrish.

I look up to see a cute little lake house that was two stories and had a swinging porch in the front. I slowly get out of the car and look around. Everything was familiar from the movie.

"Is this your lake house?" I ask.

"It is actually. I'll get your stuff." He says as I walk in.

It was absolutely beautiful. Wood floors baby blue walls, it was everything you would imagine a lake house would be. I hear Parrish walking up the steps so I go to the door and help him bring my stuff in.

"Alright that's everything. What would you like to do? We could go swimming we cou-" I cut him off.

"Look I ma not remember everything from the station but I do remember when I, when I kissed you." I say.

"You do? Well uh what d-do you remember about it?" He asks.

"That I um liked it." I say honestly.

"Oh." He answers.

"But just because I did doesn't mean I'll do anyrthing here. I'm not entirely comfortable with myself now." I say.

"Look, I didn't bring you out here ot get into your pants or anything like that. Okay? I brought you out here because I know you need to get away and not be surrounded by all those crazy people. And your brother wanted me to do it because he knows how much I care for you." He finishes.

"You care about me?" I ask with a smile.

"Well yesbut like it's different well-" He stammers with his words so I laugh and hug him.

"Thank you." I say as he hugs me back tightly.

"Anytime." He says.
