The girl woke up from her nap and saw the person she adored the most lying beside her on the grass, under the comfortable shade of a red maple tree that shielded them from the scorching summer heat. It was a tranquil afternoon and all she wanted to do is to watch the older girl's chest slowly rise and fall in a steady rythm but the soft and luscious figure of the older girl's lips lulled her to inch closer and shorten the distance between them. Hovering her face above the older girl's, she took her time to study all the details of the girl's face that has already been scorched onto her memory.

It was not entirely gravity that had pulled her in to lower her face to meet those same lips that she had been dreaming of kissing all these years, it was mostly attraction. When her lips met the older girl's warm ones, she felt time slow down as everything started to fade away; she didn't even notice the older girl's eye slowly fluttering open. The girl's kiss was only a quick peck but she felt like an entire eternity has passed before she pulled away. When she opened her eyes, she was stunned to see the most arresting dark orbs staring back at her.

"What were you doing?" The owner of the black orbs asked calmly. She has always been a calm girl ever since she was young but even in this situation, she remained calm and collected. She couldn't say that she wasn't expecting something like this to happen either; deep inside her, she already knew that the younger girl harbors some feelings for her that is more than that of friendship.

Caught in the act of stealing a kiss from her best friend, the younger girl's eyes widened in shock as she realized how her stupid spur of the moment action had opened up a can of worms that she's still not ready to admit to anyone, especially to the object of her affection. "I..I.." She stuttered as she tried to make up any flimsy excuse but couldn't come up with one when the older girl is staring back at her so steadily. She knows she couldn't run away from what she's feeling anymore now that she has been caught red handed, so she finally decided to just come clean and confess her feelings. "I like you." She admitted but that didn't feel right in her mouth so she rephrased, "I like you a lot." She felt all the air being sucked out of her as she waited for the older girl to say anything.

But the older girl just blinked in response for a moment too long. She knows how the other girl feels but she doesn't really know how to react once it would already be out in the open. She should just have kept her mouth shut and pretended that she didn't feel the younger girl's soft lips against hers but it was already too late. Everything is already unravelling too fast and she didn't even have time to brace herself for the impact.

She watched as the other girl's bright eyes instantly dulled before starting be filled with unshed dears. Her heart broke together with her friend and all the more because she's the one who did it. "I'm sorry." The words left her lips because what else could she say? She's incapable of feeling anything more than what she's feeling for her friend and it wouldn't be right to raise her hopes up, only to disappoint her later on because she couldn't return those very same feelings.

Upon hearing the apology, the younger girl immediately pushed herself off, away from the older girl's warm heat and into the warm afternoon sunlight that couldn't match the heat that the older girl had possessed. "I'm sorry too." She sniffled as her tears made their way down her porcelain face. She was sorry for more than one reason: she was sorry for kissing her, she was sorry for falling in love with her, she was sorry for admitting it, but what she's most sorry for is that she had actually hoped that she had a chance. "We should go back." She commanded more than suggested, as she angrily wiped at the unwelcomed tears in her eyes.

As the two girls made their way side by side towards the direction of their own houses without so much as a word to acknowledge what had transpired between them, the younger girl couldn't help but feel her heart shatter more with every second they spent walking in dreaded silence. She was still young and naive and didn't know the feeling of having her heart broken up until that moment; she didn't expect how tormenting it could feel to be rejected by the person she looks up to the most, the only person she had ever loved.

Before they could separate ways, the older girl abruptly stopped on her tracks and grabbed for the younger girl's hand, "I'm really sorry Chaeyoung." She apologized, sounding as if she was the one who had her heart broken.

The younger girl finally looked up from the ground to look upon one of the most regretful dark orbs staring back at her, "I know." She smiled sadly at the other girl who used to be her everything: her noona, her best friend, her first love, and her first heartbreak.

Rose woke up from a distant dream and found herelf crying her eyes out even though she doesn't know why. All she remembers from her dream is the feeling of the sunlight hitting her skin and the warmth of someone else's lips on her cold ones. She suddenly had the urge to look for her phone, so she did and found herself composing a text without entering a recipient, 'I miss you.' She wrote.

After realizing what she had texted and who she was intending it for, she instantly deleted her message but found herself unable to close her screen and lock her phone.

'How are you?' She typed in once more but also deleted it; she still isn't ready to talk reach out to her even after a year and a half has already passed since the last time they saw each other, before her friend had gone away to college.

Reluctantly, she forced herself to throw her phone away from her grasp and willed herself back to sleep. Every once in a while, she would be woken up by dreams from the past in the middle of the night and she would feel a dull thud in her chest. She was most vulnerable during these times when she is left alone in her thoughts with only the constant quiet to accompany her. Sometimes, like today, she would even find tears in her eyes, but in the morning when she wakes up, she will eventually forget about her dreams and the scar on her heart will slowly close and heal itself.

Tomorrow - Avril Lavigne

AN:
I remember watching this the first time and crying my eyes out as I listened at how Avril's voice trembled from holding back her tears. I inteded for this song as my playlist and it was such a coincidence that I clicked on this song because she was talking about her grandpa who had just passed away. I had a dream yesterday of someone reminding me of their birthday and found out this morning that it was my grandma's birthday yesterday. She had passed away two years ago and maybe she just wanted to remind me of her special day.

Anyway, what do you think about my weiting in 3rd person POV? Should I stick to it or go back to first person POV? 😂
