I glanced at Jennie, observing her every once in a while to see her silently simmering from restlessness and a little bit of anticipation perhaps? She has her arms crossed over her chest all throughout the ride---approximately a good forty-five minutes now---and I can't help but find her occasional burst of attitude adorable. It has been a long time since I have seen this side of her since she rarely acts like this to me, considering that I am---or was---her bestfriend. The rare time she acts this way is when she's feeling too out of sorts, or when she's extremely pissed, or both.

Right now, she looks like a spoiled princess who didn't have her way and I just find her extremely cute and endearing. Maybe that's the reason why I always teased her in the past. To tell you the truth, I secretly enjoy it when she's being adorably mean to me, like when she pretending to act angry or when she physically assaults me when I get under her nerves. I guess I'm a little bit masochistic after all.

I can't help it.

Slowing down the car, I pulled over to the side of the road and announced with a mischievous grin, "We're here!"

The spoiled little kid eyed me sharply and deadpanned, "We're in the middle of nowhere."

"Exactly."

"You mean we drove for over an hour just to go HERE? In the middle of NOWHERE?" She didn't raise her voice, but she didn't look too pleased either.

"I told you, you'd like it."

"Uh--huh. Do you see me smiling?"

"Nope, but you will be." I confidently stated, unbuckling my seatbelt before getting out of the car.

Jennie reluctantly followed suit after shooting me daggers but I wasn't deterred. After everything that happened earlier, it was too late for me to feel even slightly intimidated. I feel like myself again; I feel in control; my friend on the other hand must feel the other way, extremely out of sorts, after bumping her head and having a concussion. Not wanting to give my friend any more headache, I immediately went to her side, helping her get out of the car before leading her to an open spot near the edge of the cliff. I removed my bomber jacket and placed it on the slightly damp grass before motioning for Jennie to sit down while I retrieve some stuff on my car.

"Where are you going?!" She protested but I ignored her and continued my way. Jennie might have planned for today, but I also have a plan of my own; and although I initially planned it for the night, I would have to push our schedule earlier since Jennie's plan has already been wrecked. I brought out the basket containing our picnic and a small coolman containing a few refreshments and a bottle of red wine. I also extracted a blanket for us to sit comfortably in.

As soon as Jennie saw me with the stuff I retrieved, her shimmering cat eyes instantly widened. "Did you plan this evening ahead?"

"No, my brother did." I deadpanned, making her give me a deathly glare that could wither. "I'm just kidding! Of course I planned it by myself. I don't have a brother after all haha." I chuckled exaggerately, avoiding her glare as I laid out the blanket and all the stuff I brought with me.

"Hmp, I'll let your sarcasms slide since you're being this sweet." She stated with an upturned lips as she sat down with me and handed back my jacket, "I really do appreciate it. Thank you." She looked down, trying to hide a demure smile that is spreading like a wildfire.

"You're very much welcome!" I beamed, setting my jacket aside before extracting two coconut drinks from the Coolman container. "Here." I said, handing her one carton.

"Thanks." She smiled, taking the drink cheerfully---it was her favorite drink after all.

I opened mine and brought it to my lips, tasting the mildly sweet watery taste of the cold and pure organic juice as I looked upon the setting sun in the horizon, painting the horizon in a rich hue of orange and yellow. The last time I saw this particular majestic view was when I parted ways with another important friend of mine, Rosie. I know that there was something more blossoming between us, something wonderful, but I chose to stomp on it before it could fully bloom. For what? For an unrequited love that will never be returned, that's what.
