Jennie
"Can I have this dance?" Lisa breathed out, with the radiance of the moonlight silhouetting her face so I wasn't able to read the emotions overflowing within her deep browns.
"But there's no music for us to dance to." I protested, my voice almost catching in my throat. In truth, I was elated beyond measure. I thought that all our promises and dreams will go unfulfilled, yet if we partake in our highschool yearly tradition for our final dance, then there will be one less promise to go unbroken.
"Then we'll just have to create one." She declared before letting out, "Take my hand." My eyes widened. "Take a--"
"Wait! I can't sing Troye's part!" I quickly interrupted, knowing that my vocal range won't reach Troye's duet.
"Pfff, you'd be Gabriella then." She replied with a bit of distaste.
"You'd always be the boy in this relationship and you know it." I smirked before taking her hand with a satisfied smile. "Take my hand. Take a breath." I let her pull me up from my sit. "Pull me close. Take one step." She pulled me backwards towards the clearing. "Keep your eyes, locked on mine, " I raise one of my hands towards her chin, holding her line of sight in place so it won't stray away from my eyes. "and let the music be your guide." I smiled as we started shuffling oir feet to the sound of our voices, but then Lisa tripped onto something, abruptly halting our sing-along, and making us break eye contact.
"Sorry." She apologized, sheepishly, making us erupt into a fit of giggles.
Look who's clumsy now?
"Where were we? Oh right." She tightened her grip, before abruptly pulling me into her and I ended up being shoved into her, "Won't you promise me." She snaked her arms around my waist, her blazing warmth from the alcohol enveloping me and keeping the cold at bay.
"Oh won't you promise me--ugh!" I groaned, entering too late because of the little devil's abrupt action. "Let's try that again." I requested, playfully pushing her away to put some safe distance between us.
"Okay." She chuckled.
And so we repeated the pre-chorus, this time my timing came out perfectly and our voices blended melodiously as we swayed together with the music; and when she tried pulling me closer once more, I didn't bother pushing her away. When the chorus neared however, I whispered close to her ears, "Twirl me", before shoving her away to break our close proximity.
