Day 31

Ross POV

Today is the day that we were going to see the last of each other. Trevor and Kat will be arriving today later in the evening. We will all be reunited once again and I wonder how would we be like in front of the newly-weds. I can’t believe that the days of have passed by this fast. I thought that it was not going to be fine but I am now in bed with Grace sleeping peacefully by my side. I wasn’t sure about our status, though. Were we still going to be a couple after all this? After all she asked me to give her some time to think things over so probably we were still on.

I tried to shift my position so that she could sleep comfortably on the bed but then she snuggled closer to me, burying her face closer to my heart. I looked at the face of the woman who was able to bring out the best in me. Could she possibly give us another chance. I guess she was just surprised with everything that happened in the last couple of days. I nuzzled in her hair and kissed her forehead. She shifted closer this time until her lips touched the part where my heart is.

“What time is it?” she asked lazily. Her eyes were still closed. She looked so beautiful and it took a lot of courage for me not to run my finger to trace the lines of her face. All I could do is to put her lovely face as that of Aphrodite into my memory.

“It’s still 8:00, baby. Aren’t you going to work today?” I asked as I tucked a lose strand of hair behind her ear, her eyes are already open.

“I won’t be going to work today. Gotta get everything ready for Kat and Trevor here at home” she looked at me with searching eyes and frowned. “It means I have to clear this room.”

I rubbed her shoulder with my arm that was supporting her head. She was worried now that I was going to leave her. I knew it from the look in her eyes. They were somehow telling me that she was dreading for this day to come.

“Hey, don’t give me that sad face...” the tears started to fall from her hazel orbs. I wiped the tear that fell on her cheek. It was one of the hardest days for us. I honestly didn’t know where I’m headed for once I am kicked out by my best friend and her lovely wife from their honeymoon. “Everything will be fine. I can stay in a hotel for quite some time. I need to be back to Wyoming anyway for the wedding preparations.”

She smiled and hugged me closer. I drew her nearer to me and inhaled the scent of her. This made me feel lighter yet heavy at the same time. I was not going to see Grace until the wedding day or at least a day before the big  day. I gotta keep the faith running though. I knew deep down that we would still be ending up together.

Later that day, we started to clean up the room that the couple was going to use once they arrive. Grace got so busy wiping the windows and dusting everything in the living room. I didn’t expect her to be this domesticated. I suddenly imagine her doing these things at the comfort of our own home. She was going to be the perfect housewife for me. And then I can two or three kids running about the house. Mini-me’s and mini-her’s would be screaming in delight as they played with each other. I guess I was smiling like a dumb-twit when she was staring at me curiously.
