Kal stood next to Weldon, tapping her foot impatiently as she waited for the scout tests to begin.

"Come on, what is taking so long?!"

"She is probably regaining some strength. I heard the wave controller tests, she fights them herself." Weldon whispered, watching the other scouts.

There were several, most holding some sort of blades similar to Kal's katana, and other swords, as Weldon held his axe on his shoulder.

Some were unarmed, or had hidden weapons.

The door soon opened and Kal grinned, racing on in, as Weldon trudged along behind.

The others walked in, looking around the forest like room.

Weldon had an eerie feeling and took out his observers, keeping them in invisible mode as a small arrow hit the tree next to one Scout.

"There's a message." They yanked it out. "To survive your test, you must separate into Basic Scouts and into Valuing Scouts. Basic scouts must find the target without being spotted. Valuing scouts must take it out. You get spotted or hit, you are eliminated."

"Wait, what type is which?" Someone asked.

"Basic works mostly with Lightbearers in gathering data. Valuing work closer with the Fishermen in close combat." Another spoke up.

"I am Valuing. What about you Weldon?" Kal asked.

"I believe I am Basic." He sighed, knowing that he would have to go find whatever beast was awaiting.

"Then get on out there Red." She patted his back, catching him by surprise as he stumbled forward.

"Why am I Red?"

"Your hair, duh! Just go!"

He sighed and went to join the other Basic scouts.

"Who's taking what?" One girl asked.

"Each pick a direction and just go." One walked off.

Weldon sighed and made his way to go find the beast.

He came out of the forest to a scene of tall golden grass, similar to the fighting arena on the Floor of Tests, as he got a strange feeling. Pins and needles ran down the back of his neck and through his spine.

Built many a generations ago, a tall tower spire loomed over Weldon.

It was Arrow Hill Tower. The black, broken, and bolder made building casted a shadow miles long over the fields. The tower had been lost for centuries, the myth around it having been heard all over.

As the myth goes, when the Ten were climbing the towers, the early floors were dangerous, and at night, they would build fortresses on floors that took more than a night. One of those floors, was this floor.

The Ten were surrounded by enormous monsters, and built a tower and destroyed the beasts before climbing the tower once more.

The myth goes that if you stumble upon one of these towers, you were of the few who were chosen.

Weldon looked at it, with the rag-like flag billowing in the wind.

He inched towards it, on guard, waiting for something, or more as Kal, to jump out and scare him. He knew it was dangerous here, but he knew that Kal would stop at nothing to make him jump.

He heard a roar and slowly turned around.

This monster lives in places touched by archaic power. Or in this case, the Arrow Hill Tower. It attacked Weldon with piercing claws, at the same time as it tried grasping him with slippery tentacles.

He screamed and quickly dodged.

He slashed at the tentacles, it growing three more for every one he cut, and the claws attempted to grab him.

Kal heard her fellow scout scream, though far away. "Weldon."

She gripped her swords and threw her arms straight behind her back, zooming towards her team mate before any of the other Valuing Scouts could figure out what happened.

She dodged the trees, coming to the open field. She saw the tower, and the beast as Weldon attacked it.

"Gotta plan this just right." She mumbled. She looked at the beast and backed up.

She then raced forward, and leaped at the end of the hill she was on and flew towards the beast. Kal focused as the red gems in the centers of her swords glowed ever so slightly, and she grinned. "HOWLING BLOW!" She shouted as she stabbed it.

The creature froze as the two wounds which the scales around it turned black, before it screeched as the black spread like cracks, and it shattered.

Weldon panted and fell to his knees.

"You ok Red?" Kal held out her hand, smiling innocently.

He shook his head and coughed out a laugh. He took her hand and got up. "How you do that, I don't know. And I don't think I will ever know. But, thanks. You saved my butt."

"And a very fine butt it is." She laughed.

Weldon turned a shade of scarlet, and looked away.

Kal just kept laughing, before freezing and getting into fighting stance as she saw Pap slowly clapping her hands.

"Well done Regulars. But that wasn't the beast."

"What do you mean that wasn't the beast?" Weldon asked, confused.

"That was a Deaf Oedemera. They live in the the tower of the ten.You are two of the many few to ever seen the tower, and even fight this beast. Though that wasn't the test, I'll pass you with bonus points. Because honestly. You should be dead." Pap waved her hand and they exited the test.

"That. Was. AWESOME!" Kal did a little dance.

Weldon chuckled. "I would be dead if it weren't for you...."

"Ah, but we passed, and with extra points because of your girly scream."

"It is not girly!"
