I took a breath of relief as I saw a bouncy Kal and perplexed Weldon making their way over to the group. "Hey guys, how was it?"
"It was awesome! Weldon said I kicked butt." Kal punched the air a few times.
"Yeah. She did." He winced as she playfully punched him once. "Um, weird quick question. How long were we in there for?"
"No longer than an hour I would say.""Ok. Cool. Cool. Your turn Jigu." He stepped onto the elevator, looking ready for a goodnight sleep to destress from whatever happened during his and Kal's test.
I sighed and nodded. Since I was the only light bearer, the team's fate was entirely in my hands. I had to pass.
The rest of us piled onto the elevator that would take us up to the final test floor. On our way up, I felt my pants pocket squirming and gently reached in to rub Chrome's little head to help him calm down and go back to sleep mode. He chirped softly and did.
I smiled and climbed off the lift when we reached the floor. I saw hundreds of lighthouses flying all around, other lightbearers training as they slowly gathered into an audience. "I better go guys. See you later." I waved.
"You will do great. Just stay to the left." Mercy winked at me, before leading the others away from me and heading towards the waiting area."To the left?... Why would she say that?" I watched confused as they left, before going to go line up. I made my lighthouse visible as some rankers checked it to make sure that there were no modifications that would give me an advantage over other regulars during testing.
"Welcome, Light Bearers. It is finally time for you to be tested as your companions have. Please follow me to the testing arena." All of the light bearers were lead to a massive open space. "Enter your lighthouses. Your test begins now."
"But what is our test?!" Someone shouted in a squeaky voice, as I just stepped into mine. They wouldn't tell us our test. We were supposed to figure it out.I powered on my lighthouse as it was connected to the testing arena's facility.
The screen showed a scene around us, as we were not supposed to leave our lighthouse. I kept mine in place, wanting to survey the scene before I went flying.
It definitely was some sort of testing arena. Something that hand to hand combat would be prefered.
I saw multiple regulars in the arena, and looked to see if my team was among the simulated people. I only saw someone who looked like Ewart, but with red crystals, and someone who somewhat seemed to resemble Kal.
They seemed to be doing some sort of testing. Files popped up on my screen of the different regulars below us, along with instructions.
'Below are two teams of regulars. Pick the victorious team based on the data provided, and you have control to tell them who they battle to win.'
I scanned over the documents, seeing only the people by their data pocket information. All were D rank regulars, a few appearing to be from some families, but with their names blocked out, it was uncertain.
Both teams appeared equally strong, however, one team was short on a fisherman while the rest of the team had two of each. Based on how they were stanced, it appeared that they had been climbing the tower for some time together, and worked well together.
I looked over the data on the other team. They had both a defender and an anima. They were clearly well balanced in power, but appeared to be in a bit of disarray, not as equally put together.
I looked over a few of the files. Regular F of the first group was a girl with wings. Spear bearer. Had a whip as her main weapon. She appeared to be the youngest of the group, couldn't have been more than a few years older than me.
She was talking to one of the girls with similar facial features who was older than her down in the arena, seeming to be teasing her. The older girl, Regular B, rolled her eyes annoyed and said something back with a smirk, making F go red and hide her face in her hands and playfully, or maybe it was angrily, smacking the lightbearer as B laughed.
I looked at the other stats. Regulars I and C, the two wave controllers, stood to the side, both seeming to trying to meditate or something while standing. C was barely visible, and his stats said his skin was made of some sort of pure crystal that I had never heard of. The other regular looked like Ewart, but with red crystals. I had seen him when all this started up, so I decided to try to see his file info about him, but there wasn't much other than that he was a red crystal.
I turned to the other team's files to take a peek at what they were.
Regular A on the other team was a fisherman who was ordering her teammates to get ready, but they all appeared to be doing their own thing to her frustration. The other fisherman, Regular D, was polishing a pistol and a sword, and repeatedly inspecting them both to see if there were no scratches.
Regular E stood idly by, watching the enemy team's movements. The Spear Bearer anima held his snake that loosely wrapped around his neck, petting it gently and feeding it.
I looked at the time left and sighed. I had to pick a team, then instruct them on who would be the best for them to take down. If I am right and that team wins, then my team and that team, if they were real, moved on. But if I was wrong...
I took a breath and looked at the files of both teams before selecting the first team I had reviewed, feeling I had the best of luck with them.
