My eyes shot open. It can't be true. I can't be in the tower. Not yet. I'm not ready.
"Hello little girl. Welcome to the Tower. I am Headron, the guardian of the first floor of the Tower." I heard a sly voice hiss, and looked at a white figure about my height, with a long face with teeth jagged like. Long horn like ears extended from the top of his head. "What is your name?" His staff extended with a mechanical hiss to show two jade orbs on the ends which glimmered.
"J-Jigu Kkoch." I whispered, terrified.
"You have entered the tower Miss Kkoch. All the answers are at the top of the tower. Whether you are looking for wealth, immortality, absolute power, magical abilities, or mysteries, just head up. All the truth, glory, and happiness of the world are up there. The tower is such a place. But remember. It is a hard and painful journey to embark on Miss Kkoch."
"I...." I looked down. Why did I enter the tower? What am I doing here? If I made it to the top, what would I want?
"If you're ready to proceed, let's start with a little test to see if you're worthy."
"What kind of test?" I brushed my pale light green hair from my eyes. I'm in the tower. I can't turn back now, even if I wasn't ready.
A bright light grew behind Headon, and I smashed my crystal amber colored eyes shut to not be blinded.
The wall was moved to reveal a massive cave, and inside was a snow white and blood red eel, massive beyond comprehension.
"That is a white armored eel...." I recognized it from my studies and froze. It was their feeding time. Otherwise they wouldn't be using it as a test.
"Indeed. If you know of the Eel, then you must know what time it is. This test is called 'The Ball'. Do you see the black sphere concealed behind the beast? You must go and pop it to pass this test. Whatever you do, whether it be slay the Eel or bypass it, you must pass the test or you cannot climb."
He held up his hand which wasn't holding a staff, and a smaller black ball grew, and floated over next to me. "This is your pocket. It is an e-rank pocket. You must register your information in it. If you pass the test, you will be granted access to the next floor."
"But, don't I get a weapon or something?" I asked, watching the Eel fly around in the air. Or in the shinsu flow.
"You do not have anything?" He asked after a second of silence.
"No... I was dragged into the tower. I wasn't prepared.
"Very well. Then what do you require from outside the tower?"
"I had a wooden staff in my bedroom of my house, and a backpack." I answered, and not a second later, they both appeared before me. I grabbed my backpack to make sure my books were in there, feeling the heavy weight of them. My staff had the same notches and the roughness as the day I made it.
He had summoned it? How powerful was he?
I threw my pack onto my back and held the staff tightly in both hands, it far taller than my fourteen year old self. "Open the gate." I told him, ready. I knew the nature of a white armored eel and slowly walked in. As long as it didn't see me, I'd be fine.
"Breathe Jigu. You can do it." I muttered to myself, my knuckles turning white as I held onto my staff for my dear life as I prepared myself. Keeping one eye on the eel and the other on the sphere, and inched towards the black sphere, before the eel noticed me and started floating into my direction.
I knew it wasn't going to attack me, despite it being the hungry beast during this time of the year, but I did not know whether the passive beast was going to listen to me. I bolted for the orb, and smacked my stick against it, but nothing happened. It didn't even crack.
I looked at the eel which was floating in the air, or shinsu, calmly behind me. "You're not gonna hurt me. You're not gonna hurt me." I whispered and extended out my hand out and onto the muzzle of the giant beast between it's nostrils. I looked at it and stepped back before it took the orb in its mouth and shattered it, a bright light glowing.
I shut my eyes, baring my teeth as it grew brighter and I felt warmth surround me.
"How did she tame the eel?" Headron wondered as he watched the orb reformed and the wall closed.
I slowly opened my eyes and saw the tall grass and wheat around me. "I passed? I PASSED!" I realized and squealed, jumping up and down excitedly.
Maybe I could climb the tower and get my deepest wish, whatever that may be.
