Tryouts

♥Hayes POV♥

I realized why Myra was mad in the middle of choir. We were singing some song that didn't make sense, when a rush of memories came back to me from the party. The first one was of Myra and I kissing in spin the bottle, then me telling her how I felt, and then Olivia kissing me.

I kissed Myra. I loved her, but I wasn't sure that she loved me. This was all so confusing. I guess technically I was dating Olivia, but I didn't want to. Maybe the story that Myra and I were kissing in the hallway would spread and she would break up with me. Then I could date Myra.

The bell rang, signaling for me to leave, and go home, but I had tryouts. Finally, football, that's where I could think, I packed up my stuff, and headed to my locker. Myra was already there, throwing books in her bag.

"Hey," I said walking up to her.

She turned and smiled," Hey, uh, we have to talk after tryouts."

"Uh, okay." Oh, no. She was going to tell me that it wouldn't work out. I threw my books in my bag angrily. Then I felt arm wrap around my back. I smiled thinking it was Myra, it wasn't.

"Hey babe, I haven't seen you in so long! How was your first day?" Olivia asked me.

"It was good," I started to wonder if she even knew about the kiss. "How was your day?"

"It was good, until I heard that that weirdo Myra kissed you. I'm so sorry baby. I know most girls would be really mad, but I'm different, I know you would never kiss her, she has such a big crush on you, it's almost cute, so just tell her you don't feel the same way and get rid if her."

I wasn't sure what to say. I didn't want to break up with her in the middle of the hall way. "I've got to go to tryouts." I slung my bag over my shoulder and walked away.

Entering the boy's locker room, I changed into my football gear and headed out to the field.

The field was huge. With large lights and a commentators box, it was a like a professional arena. The turf was well groomed. I saw that the girls soccer program was already out, practicing I their half of the field. The soccer and football field were grouped into one. I saw Myra running in a large group of girls. Her ponytail bobbed up in down with her steps.

"Hey, Hayes!" Dave called from the other side of the field.

"Hey," I jogged up to him. The team stretched and started to run.

(A|N So I don't know anything about football, so I'm just going to skip this)

All the people trying out for soccer cheer, and football sat on the bleachers. Dave was next to me on my right and Nash was to my left. Myra was sitting on the other side of the grandstands, laughing with her friend. Her laugh was so perfect.

They started by calling the girls soccer. First Varsity the JV, I waited to hear Myra's name, and finally it came. I heard a squeal, and saw Myra hug all her friends. She looked over at me, as we made eye contact; she smiled, and went back to the locker room with the other girls.

Cheer was called next, of course Olivia was on cheer, because she couldn't get anymore cliquish. She gave me a big smile, I felt kind of bad for cheating on her. I know she's a complete bitch, but, under that there must be some form of human. Middle school football was called last. My name was right in the middle. I walked back to the locker rooms with the rest of the guys.

"So, are you and that Myra girl a thing?" One of the other boys on my team asked. "Cause I heard you two were kissing in the hallway in 5th period."

"Umm, no, we're just friends." I said.

"Yeah, friends that kiss in the woods occasionally," Nash said behind me.

"Shut up, we have to go." I picked up my bag and walked out the door, Myra and Ali were waiting outside for us.

We went to the car and dropped off Myra and Ali, and then I got a text.

Myra: Meet me in the grove in five minutes

Hayes: Ok

♥Myra's POV♥

I was really happy that I made the team, but I remembered I had to talk to Hayes after school. This wasn't going to be good. I walked out to the grove; Hayes was there, waiting for me. He turned around and smiled.

"Congratulations on the tryout." He smiled and hugged me, he smelled so good, and he was so happy, it broke my heart that I had to do this.

"Hayes we need to talk." I said looking at the dyeing grass.

"Ok?" He sat down and patted the spot next to him.

"Hayes, every time I have feelings, they end up hurting me." I looked at him with misty eyes, "I don't want my feelings hurting you, and you have Olivia, if you break up with her, she'll ruin you!"

"I don't care about Olivia; I want to be with you!" He almost yelled.

"I know, but we should keep this under wraps, for now. We should just be friends, I'm not ready for this and you're not ready to deal with me." He sighed, he knew I was right. "We will be a secret, just friends, but when we're alone, we can be more than friends."

I knew he wouldn't be satisfied with this but it would be fine for now. It would give me time to figure out my feelings. I still wasn't sure if I loved Hayes, I wasn't sure if I was ready toolbar someone who would just hurt me.

"So what do I do about Olivia?" He asked

"I don't know, she's trying to collect you."

"What?"

"She has this collection of boys; basically she dates someone and then breaks their heart, adding to her collection"

"That is so stupid." He said laying back I the grass.

"I know," I sighed and laid down next to him.

"Hey you know what?" He smirked at me. "We're alone"

I laughed as he pulled me in, and tickled my sides, and kissing my cheeks. "Stop," I cried between giggles. He turned me over and pinned me to the ground.

"Surrender!" He screamed.

"Never!" I laughed

His lips collided with mine, and moved against mine. I moved my lips with his, following his movements. "I have an idea." I said sitting up.

I walked over to the largest tree in the clearing, picking up a sharp stick, I began to carve a heart into the side. Once I was done, there was a small heart with the initials H.G+M.G in the middle. Hayes came up behind me and picked me up by the waist, and started to walk home. This was going to work, it would be fine.

A|N Sorry for the short chapter, it was kind of a transition chapter; the next few will be more interesting, and by the way, this chapter I hit 20,00 words XoXo C.
