-FLASHBACK- +Second update for today. Read chapter 32 first if you haven't already+
Eddie had a huge smile on his face. He was free. There was no more Peter to boss him around and make him feel bad about himself. He was now able to do things without feeling stupid. Eddie wanted to talk to Richie for some weird- crazy reason. He knew that he was running out of time and a part of him was hoping that Richie would burst through the door and admit his feelings for him at any second. That's now how it would work or how it will work. Eddie had kept a good grip on reality through everything.
The smaller boy sat in a diner by himself and drunk a milkshake. He was celebrating. Peter brought him down. Now, he had no one to do that. Eddie thought of every single thing he didn't like about his ex and laughed. The only thing he regretted was not breaking up with Peter sooner.
"Are you alone?"
Eddie looked up from his drink and saw a boy about his age standing next to his booth. "Yeah," he answered. "I'm alone and I'm alone for a reason." Eddie had just gotten out of a relationship, he would hate to date another Peter. That would be a nightmare.
"I'm Asher," the boy said. He scooted into the booth and sat across from Eddie. "I think I've seen you around at school. What grade are you in?" he asked. Eddie scoffed quietly and tried to focus on his milkshake.
"I'm a junior," Eddie mumbled. When Asher stood by him with a blank expression, he added on, "Eleventh grade."
"I'm a senior," Asher spoke, trying to start a conversation with him. "I heard you dated Peter, so I assumed you were gay. I just came out to my mom, any advice? I don't know if I'm ready to come out to the school."
"Only do it when you feel like you're ready," Eddie bluntly replied, not wanting to get too into the conversation. "And don't date somebody who tells you to put your seatbelt on every two fucking minutes."
Asher looked uncomfortable by Eddie's sudden anger. "So I'm going to also assume you and Peter broke up," he stated. "You looked really happy when I saw you at first- really happy for someone who is dealing with a breakup."
"I'm thrilled," Eddie laughed. "I didn't love him. I love my best friend and he hated that, so our relationship came to a close. I've been waiting for it to end for like a month so I'm really happy. I got this milkshake just because I'm that happy." Eddie listened to himself and wondered why he was giving out all his business, he just didn't care about anymore.
