Gwendolyn
"Chase!" I exclaimed.
He whimpered and cowered.
I forgot to walk him this morning and he peed on the carpet.
I sat my jacket on the counter and took off my shoes.
"Go sit in the bathroom." I pointed towards the bathroom and he started to bark.
I looked to where I thought he was barking, down the hallway, and saw a figure standing there.
There were wearing all black clothes and I saw the glimmer of a gun in their waistband.
Chase got in front of me and was growling like crazy.
Whoever this was, they were definetley a foe.
I grabbed the nearest weapon, a long metal rod from behind the couch, and brandished it in front of me. "Who are you?"
"Someone you'll come to know soon." Even though the intruder's face was covered and the voice was muffled I could conclude that it was a guy from his body shape.
He took out a phone and a light flashed.
Did he just take my picture?
A knock on the door sounded and I glanced at the door, inching closer.
"It seems our confrontation will be put off just a little bit longer." The stranger said and took something out of his pocket.
He threw it towards Me and it exploded.
I got one last look at him before he disappeared into the smoke the object had created. "Fino a quando ci incontriamo di nuovo."
I felt Chase nuzzling my legs, trying to see if I was ok, but at the moment I was feeling dizzy.
Maybe I should lay down. The smoke began to clear and I heard Chase howling before everything blanked out.

The first thing I heard, when I could hear again, were soft whimpers.
Then something wet on my eyelids.
I pushed Chase's mouth away from my face.
I rubbed my head and tried to sit up but a hand pushed me down again. "Give yourself a minute to adjust."
I looked up at Xavier. "What ae you doing here?"
"Stopped by and walked in on the chaos." He shrugged.
He was beside the couch with a little object in the palm of his hand.
The little object. Smoke. Stranger.
"Did you see? The Guy?" I asked him and pointed towards the now clear hallway.
"Yes." He responded calmly. "Gwendolyn pack a bag."
"What? Why?" I pushed Chase's head away again. "I'm not leaving."
"Yes you are. They know where you live now." He got up and helped me up. "You'll be safer with me at all times, at least until things cool down."
"From who or what do I need to be safe from?" I questioned.
He was silent.
