Gwendolyn
Though the meeting was short it felt like forever.
When I wasn't writing notes or paying attention to what each person was saying, I noticed the lustful stares I was getting from some of the representatives.
The first guy to get here actually hadn't taken his eyes off me thw entire time and even though he tried to be inconspicuous about it I always caught Mr.Wells glaring at the guy from the corner of his eye.
"Ms. Chambers?" A voice called my name as I exited the confrence room when the deal was sealed.
I turned to see that one thirsty representative. "The company I represent formally asks you to consider working for us Lou inc."
He handed me a business card and I handed it right back. "Let's see. Have you staring at me all the time? I'd really rather not."
He blushed like a little boy confronting his crush and scratched his head. He held out the business card again. "You're just pleasant to look at."
I sighed and reached for the business card. Another hand grabbed it before I could and both the representative and I looked up into Mr.Well's dark sunglasses.
"Mr. Jacobs aren't you late for another meeting?" He said and slid the card into his pocket.
The representative, apparentley Mr. Jacobs, checked his watch. "I am late!"
He turned to take off running before stopping again. "To be continued Ms.Chambers."
He gave Mr.Wells a nod and ran towards the elevator.
I started walking again and once again Mr.Wells was keeping pace with me.
I looked at him questoningly and raised my eyebrow.
"It it is simple chivalry. My mother always taught me that if I accompany a woman away from her home I must escort her back." He shrugged.
"You didn't escort me from my home though." I smiled.
"I know." He gave me a smirk in return.
He made sure I was in my office before returning to his own office.
Evelyn burst in minutes later and I almost dropped my hot chips. "What in the hell was that?!"
"What?!" I said.
"Um." She gestured towards the door with a duh expression.
"A closed door." I leaned back in my chair.
"You know damn well what I mean." She said and sat on one of the couches.
"Correction. I could know damn well what you're talking about if you told me." I said and went to sit with her. Yes, I brought my chips.
"I saw you walking with Mr. Wells." She said.
"Congrats you can see." I said and finished my chips. "Evelyn this isn't high school."
"I know. But it works the same way with. Which is why I have to ask you." She picked up my hands. "Are you two going to end up in a romantic ass relashonship?"
"I doubt it." I told her. "He's my boss, I'm his assistant. Nothing more."
"There are signs that even on your most observant days you've missed." She leaned back on the couch.
"Name a few." I asked her. "We've got time until the next meeting.'
"Well for one he's never come into anyone else's office until now." She pointed out. "He never walked the old assistant to and from her office."
"Stalker much?" I muttered.
"Cameras." She pointed out.
I shrugged. "These have what to do with me exactly?"
"Jake from accounting and I have started a ballot and taken bets on wether or not ypu and the boss will end up together by the end of this year." She said. "He thinks you won't and I think you will. But we'll see who was right."
She got up and left me in the office.
"That ship is sailing much too early." I muttered and Mr.Wells entered the room. "Already?!"
"No I brought some more files." He said.
I got up to go and sit at the desk again. When I took the files from him though my hand brushed his his.
Warmness spread to my fingertips and he pulled his hand away hurridley.
"The next meeting is at 2:30." Was all he said before leaving the office.
"Well damn." I said and started to work on the files.

Days went by. Days of work became weeks of work and weeks of work became a solid month of work.
Throughout the month Mr.Wells walked me to every meeting and accompanied me back to my office afterwards.
He came into my office at least 4 times a day for the meetings and sometimes, most times actually, he would come 30 minutes before a meeting and would sit and casually talk to me while I finished my work.
I began to look forward to these casual visits. But somethings that plagued me each time was that he literally always wore his sunglasses and always seemed to be thinking about something.
As a matter of fact, I check my watch, he should be here right about now.
He walked through the door right on time. "Ms.Chambers."
"Mr.Wells, you didn't bring anything for me to work on and the next meeting isn't for another two hours." I tapped my foot and he gave me his usual smirk.
"Forgot." He said and seated himself on one of the couches.
I sat on the couch opposite of him. "So what are we going to do for the next two hours."
"I'll be honest. I've come to ask you a question today." He said.
"Mmhm." I gestured for him to continue.
He held up a hand to silence me and got up. He walked the door and flung it open.
Two unknown employees looked up at us from the floor. One of them had on a pair of headphones with a microphone on one end.
"The hell?!" I said and they jumped up.
"Retreat!" One said to the other and they took off running.
Mr.Wells closed the door again and settled on the couch in front of me again.
"Like I was saying. I've been contemplating asking you to lunch?" He said simply.
