Gwendolyn *five years later*

"Mommy?"

"Yes Aliyah." I said.

"Can you tell me about the princess again?" She asked. "Just until Daddy comes home and then I promise I'll go take my nap."

"Alright." I said, pulling her up onto the bed. She snuggled into Xavier's spot.

"Mommy?" Another little voice said. "Me too."

I picked Xander up and he curled up next to his sister.

"Ok which princess?" I asked.

"The one you told us about yesterday. She went and found her prince and didn't sit around waiting for him." Aliyah said.

"Ok." I said. "Not too long ago there was a princess who had gotten tired of waiting for her prince, so she set off to find him."

"She came across many other princes but none of them were hers until one day she told her best friend about her problems and her best friend told her to get a job, because if she couldn't find a prince to provide for her, she would have to provide for herself." I said.

"So the princess got a job but little did she know, her prince was closer than she thought." Aliyah's eyes widened and I continued. "The prince had given up hope of ever finding his true love. But they met and gradually started to get closer to each other. The prince came to a realization that she must have been his."

"What happened next?" Aliyah asked.

"Well the princess got pregnant eventually and the prince's love for her grew stronger every day." I said. "Until she was snatched away by a very bad man. The man took her away and kept her hidden from the prince."

I continued. "But she made some friends there and they went through most things together. After the princess gave birth to her children the man forced her to do very bad things. He even locked her in a cage and shot the prince."

Aliyah gasped. "That's terrible."

"Yes." I said. "But the prince survived thanks to his love for the princess. They went home with their children and got married not too long after that. That's when he became a King and she became his Queen."

"The princess was you, wasn't it Mommy?" Aliyah asked.

"Yes." I said.

"I told you Xander. I am a princess!" She said.

He rolled his eyes.

"And your friends were Rena and Auntie Miranda?" She asked.

"Yes." I said.

"You skipped a part." Xander pointed out. "About the bad man and Auntie Miranda."

"The bad man claimed to love your Aunt. But she wasn't sure so she befriended one of his prisoners and escaped when she had the chance." I said.

"She's like out fairy godmother!" Aliyah bounced around.

"Something like that." I said. "Now go back to sleep."

"Can we stay in here?" Aliyah asked.

I rolled my eyes. "Yes. But You have to actually go to sleep this time. I'm going to go make lunch."

I got out of the bed and Aliyah crawled into my spot. "Ok Mommy."

When I walked out of the room Chase was looking up at me with his sad, brown eyes.

I held the door open and he ran past me and jumped on the foot of the bed.

His favorite pasttime these days is naps with the twins. I don't know why. Aliyah kicks in her sleep.

"Serena?" I opened the door to her room and she looked up at me. "Did you want a sandwich or something?"

She smiled. "Yes, please."

I closed the door and walked downstairs. I turned the corner just in time to see Xavier closing the door behind him.

"You're fifteen minutes late." I said. "You know they won't go to sleep until you get here."

"I know. I'm sorry." He said. "I had to make a quick stop."

I walked straight into his waiting arms and he kissed me.

I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him closer and then pulling away. "We have to be more secretive now that we've got such observant kids."

"Hmm." He kissed me again.

When he pulled away I was mildy flustered.

"I got you this." He handed me a small box, wrapped in decorative paper.

"Xavier." I said, flipping it over.

"I know it's not your birthday yet but just open it." He said.

I rolled my eyes and tore the wrapping paper. It was a small clear glass case and in it was my necklace.

The damaged one.

Xavier had gotten me a new one but I had kept the old one.

It had disappeared a few days ago. Now I knew why.

"You had this the whole time?" I asked him.

"Yes. Do you like it?" He looked uncertain.

"Xavier this is so sentimental." I said. "I love it."

"And I love you." He said pulling me closer.

He pressed me up against the counter and kissed me again.

I became lost in the kiss before I could stop myself.

He picked me up and sat me on the counter, deepening the kiss.

He pulled away. "I missed you."

"You were only gone six hours." I said.

"I should give you less off days." He said.

"It's not like I use any of them." I said. "And the kids will be starting school soon."

"Still. It's lonely when you're not there." He said.

"Well I could say the same when you're not here." I said. "You should take an off day."

"Maybe I should." He said.

"I let the twins sleep in our bed again." I said.

"Gwendolyn, I told you that they need to get used to sleeping on their own." He said. "Then again you've never really been one to follow rules."

I laughed. "Nope and technically I followed every rule because you fell first."

"I'm glad I did." He said. "Francis thought I was pranking him when I told him that I loved you."

"But you weren't." I pointed out.

"No I wasn't." He hugged me. "I love you, Gwendolyn."

I laid my head on his shoulder and put my arms around him.

"I love you, Xavier." I said sincerely.
