Gwendolyn
As soon as I walked into work the next day I left Xavier's side. I grabbed Evelyn's arm and dragged her to my office.
"What's wrong?" She asked.
"So." I began.
I locked the door and we sat in the bathroom. "I'm pregnant."
"And?" She shrugged.
"And I need you to keep this on the low." I whispered.
"Does he know?" She asked.
Good. We're on the same page.
"No. I didn't want to tell him yet." I said.
"Well you need to. There's really no point in hiding it." She told me.
"I will tell him. Just not now." I thought about Xavier caring for a baby.
"When you first tell a guy he panics." She said. "But he eventually gets it through his thick ass head that wether he's around or not, he is the baby's father."
"I hope you know. I'm going to need some help getting through this." I said.
"Do you support abortion?" She asked.
"No." I responded.
Abortion is basic murder.
"Then all I can tell you at the moment is don't give in to your cravings and no alcohol." She said and pulled me out of the bathroom. "You'll start showing at around five months. Did you eat anything this morning?"
"No." I answered.
"If you throw up after you eat something it can mean that your baby doesn't like it." She informed me. "There will be a lot of pain during these next nine months but don't take any unauthorized medicines."
I nodded. "You seem like an expert."
"I'm just telling you what my doctor told me during my first pregnancy." She shrugged. "Now remember. Sex will not hurt the baby."
"What's life like raising two kids?" I asked as she continued ranting instructions.
"Loud but still lovable." She said. "Now call me later. Unlike you I actually have work to do."
I waved to her as she left the office.
Most people in my situation would probably have asked how do you tell somebody you're pregnant or they might google it.
But there is a much simpler way of doing this. All you have to say is 'I'm pregnant'.
Then its over with and done. It's really not that hard.
I've read books where a girl gets pregnant by some guy and she's scared to tell him but It's just two words.
Which brings me to my question.
Why don't I want to tell him?
It's most definitely not that I'm scared of accepting it. I practically raised Everett, even though he's my older brother.
I didn't notice Xavier had come into my office until I felt him kiss my cheek.
"I'm sorry." He said. "I lied to you."
"About what?" I asked.
"Your request for sex." He said. "I told you we'd continue after work but we never had the chance."
"There's always today Xavier." I said.
"But will you be as eager as yesterday." He kissed my neck.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
I could feel him leaving little marks down my collarbone.
"Would you be as willing to strip for me today as you were yesterday." He whispered in my ear.
"You tell me." I said.
He laughed and his phone rang. He checked the caller i.d and picked it up.
He covered the speaker before saying. "I'm taking you out for lunch today."
I nodded and he left to take his call.
I'm begginnig to love staying with him.
Love?
I shook my head trying to get the thought of my head.
Yes, I may be warming his bed some nights.
Yes, we are in a relashonship.
Yes, I'm pregnant with his baby.
But that doesn't mean I love him as a person.
I could ask my parents but it would be awkward and mushy.
Lavender's too young to understand love.
I sighed and picked up my phone to call my idiot brother.
"Hello?"
"Hey Everett, can we talk?" I got up and went to sit on one of the couches.
I heard movement in the background. "Sure."
I explained to him my current situation. Except, of course, the fact that I'm pregnant.
"Does he get jealous?" Everett asked.
"I don't have time to be flirted with Everett." I said.
"Does he make you happy?" He asked.
"Yes." I responded.
"Is he perverted all the time?" He yawned away from the phone.
"No." I answered honestly.
"Has he ever protected you?"
Um yeah. For like the past 2 months.
But I didn't tell Everett this. "Yes."
"Has he ever gone to the store for you?" Was his next question.
"Yes." I sighed. "Everett what do I do?"
"I don't know but I do know that the guy basically worships the ground you walk on." He said with such certainty that I almost believed it myself.
"Oh please Everett." I said.
"Correct me if I'm wrong but did Damien ever go to the store for you? Or any of your other boyfriends for that matter? When I responded with silence he said "That's what I thought."
"Everett!" I sighed.
"Fine I know that he doesn't just want you for sex." Everett says. "I can tell that you like him a lot more than Damien."
"How can you tell?" I asked.
"You never called me about him unless it was to rant about how lazy he was." He said and I almost laughed.
"Thank you Everett." I said.
"Another thing to add to the list." He said. "He's teaching you how to be nicer to your only brother."
I hung up the phone and a few seconds later Everett texted me.
E- Real Mature Gwen. Real Mature.
I snickered and propped myself up on the couch. I could wait this out. Hopefully.
