Gwendolyn
"If you'll just strip down to your underwear and put on this gown." The nurse handed me a gown. "The doctor will be right in."
She never looked up from her phone as she handed Xavier a mask.
She left the room and Xavier immediately stepped towards me.
I pushed him away. "I've got this."
"As much as I enjoy seeing you naked, I don't think the doctor would like to see us fucking on his observation table." Xavier started to unbutton my skirt.
"So you undressing me yourself is helping what?" I folded up my shirt and lay it on the counter.
"Nothing. It's just a pleasurable oppurtunity that I couldn't pass up." He smirked down at me.
"You're such a pervert." I pulled the gown over my head.
"No, I'm just addicted to you." He said happily.
I rolled my eyes and he helped me up onto the table before placing my heels beside my clothes.
I felt the sudden urge to throw up.
I don't like hospitals. Never have, never will. They were weird and smelled funny.
Xavier was getting impatient. Several minutes have passed and the doctor has yet to arrive.
I got the feeling that he was going to go find the doctor and drag him here himself when, at last, the doctor decided to show up.
He handed me a glass of water. "Drink up. It will help us observe the fetus better."
I downed the cup of water and he towards Xavier. "I assume you're the Father?"
"Yes." Xavier responded formally.
"Then would you please stand on the other side of the table?" The doctor put on some gloves.
Xavier moved to my other side as the doctor slid towards us on his stool.
He worked swiftly. Making me lay back on the exam table and spreading some gel on my stomach.
Xavier held my hand but he glared daggers at the doctor every time he touched me.
He wrote something on his clipboard before moving some machine that was hanging above me. "This is a transducer. It will send high frequency sounds waves throughout your abdomen that will reflect back off of internal structures."
"One more time in English." I said sarcastically.
Xavier loomed over me. "It's going to let us see the baby. Then he's going to estimate how many weeks it's been there and a due date."
He should be able to this by this himself. He knows more about it than I do and I'm the one that's pregnant.
"Oh and my name is Dr.Buns." He said before he put on his spectacles and turned on the machine. "Watch that screen over there."
Xavier and I turned to look at the screen and saw what I'm guessing was inside my stomach.
Dr.Buns glanced at the screen. "Congratulations. You're having twins."
"Where?" I stared at screen.
Xavier was no help. He was entirely focused on what I couldn't see.
Dr.Buns got up and strolled to the screen, pointing at two little semi-circles. "There."
I squinted. The little things, my children, were wrapped around each other and they resembled the yin and yang.
Xavier hand had left mine. "Where are they?"
Dr.Buns looked at the screen and then took Xavier's hand, placing it on one section of my stomach.
His hand made shapes in the gel but he didn't seem to care.
He seemed ecstatic, suprised and upset at the same time.
"Can we get a picture?" Xavier asked.
"Of course." Dr.Buns left the room, shutting the door behind him.
"I wonder." Xavier's words were drawn out. "If my Father felt like this when he looked at my sister."
"Xavier." I pulled him to my side and hugged him. "It's OK."
"She never even had a chance at life." Xavier wrapped his arms around me. "All because of him."
I shushed him. "Let's not make this sad."
He nodded and kissed my forehead before pulling away.
He helped clean up the gel that how somehow gotten on his shirt. Just as I finished getting dressed Dr.Buns came in and handed Xavier an envelope.
My phone buzzed with a text from my mom.
M- Excited for dinner. Can't wait to meet your new boyfriend!
"Dammit." I cursed and Xavier squeezed my hand.
"Is something wrong?" He asked.
"My family's dinner is today." I sent a text back to my mom.
G- me too.
"You forgot?" He said. "Gwendolyn she told you on Monday."
"That was a long time ago." I defended myself.
"Gwendolyn it's Tuesday." He said. "It hasn't even been 24 hours since you told me."
"Whatever." I said. "That means we have to do something else today besides what I want to do."
"What did you want to do?" Xavier questioned as he opened the car door.
"None of your business." I said.
He rolled his eyes as he walked around towards the driver's side of the car.
When we were finally on our way back I said. "We should just tell my family today."
"I'm not going to rush you Gwendolyn. We'll do this your way." Xavier glanced at me.

"Ok don't be nervous." I told Xavier as we stood on the porch.
"Gwendolyn the list of things I am scared of is very short and your family is not on it." He knocked on the door.
"Will I ever get to see this list?" I joked.
"Sure, after all, you're on it." He said.
Before I could question him about this my mother opened the door, greeting us with her usual cheery smile.

I'm so sorry. I lied. I've been busy and have hardly had a chance to write these last few days.
I will include part of the dinner in the next chapter. I realize there has yet to be a plot twist so I'll try to find one to throw in.
