Damien

"I told you we should've killed the kid." Marquis said. "But you backed out."

"It's not like she coul-" I started but stopped. "You know what, that doesn't matter. I'll just keep a closer eye on her."

"You'd better. Because if you don't the girl will take the baby and run. We can't have that, can we?"

"No." I said.

"Because then we'd have to kill her instead." He paced the room. "You wouldn't like that would you?"

"No." I said.

"Then do your fucking job." He said harshly. "Because if you didn't you would be useless to me. And you know so much about us that I would be signing my own death note if I let you live."

The door opened and Amber stepped into the room carrying a large tray.

"You can leave it over there." Marquis said gesturing towards the desk in the corner of the room. "And yes we'll start sending food for the both of them. We need her alive."

She nodded as she sat the tray down.

"Is Miranda going to come out of hiding today?" He asked her and she looked surprised.

"I-I don't know." She stuttered.

Marquis smirked at me. He gestured for her to come closer and she took a few timid steps forward.

When she was close enough he raised his hand and slapped her across her face.

I flinched at the sound and almost reached out to catch her as she fell. Almost.

She held her hand against her face as he looked down at her. "Don't lie to me. Get out and tell Miranda I expect to see her at the celebration tonight."

Amber stumbled as she got to her feet. Even through her tears she glared angrily at me. Then she ran from the room.

"Why do you torture me?" I stood up. "Cant you just leave her alone?"

"Watch your tounge or you'll soon learn how it feels to lose a little sister." He said. "Now come. Dine with me."

Gwendolyn

"It's almost two o'clock." Serena informed me.

"Serena you only slept for two hours. You need more sleep than that." I said.

"But I'm not sleepy." She whined.

We were interrupted by the door sliding open and Amber stepping into the room.

She was crying and there was a big welt in the side of her face. "Miranda wants to see you now."

Serena helped me up slowly and walked by side as we followed Amber.

"Amber what happened to you?" I asked her.

She just brushed her hair over the red mark. "It's ok. I'll live."

We arrived at a door labled 'Maintenance'.

Amber hurried us inside. "I have to go and help prepare food for tonight."

Serena grabbed my hand as a woman emerged from between the various cleaning supplies.

"Let's make this brief."She held out her hand to me. "Hi I'm Miranda."

I shook her hand. "Gwendolyn. And this is Serena."

She nodded. "I guess you know why I wanted to meet you."

"Is it because I'm pregnant?" I asked.

She shook her head. "Nah more so to inform you on what their planning and how I'm planning to burn this shit down."

"I already know what they're planning so let's skip to the part where you explain what you're planning." I said.

"It's simple really. When it comes to the final showdown, we kill the mob boss." She said.

"By mob boss do you mean the guy that's trying to kill me and my kid." I asked and she nodded. "Ok fine. What do I need to do."

"Observe during your time here. Gather intel. As much as you can."  She said and I nodded.

"Now go." She said. "Pesephone will be looking for you."

She pushed us out of the closet, looked around and ran in the other direction.

"Was that why you asked for my help?" Serena asked. "Someone is trying to kill your Baby?"

"Yes." I said. "Let's not discuss it in public. Now let's go find our room."

Surprisingly the room wasn't far and Persephone was waiting for us. "Where have you two been?"

"Places." I said. "So you're here to dress us up for some event?"

"Yep." She said cheerfully.

"When are we going?" Serena asked.

"As soon as I'm done with you." Persephone informed us. "And you're required to wear a dress."

Serena didn't thrilled at all and she later told me that she had seen a few girls wearing these dresses and hadn't liked the look of them.

But the dresses Persephone had were suspiciously normal.

Serena had on an aquamarine dress that went to her knees and black flats. Her finishing touch was a black flower clip in her hair.

I wouldn't let Persephone put anything on her besides lip gloss. It was too much for her.

My dress was a little bit older in style. It had long sleeves and a low v-neck collar, so it exposed a lot of skin. When I asked Persephone for my undergarments she said that she was ordered to dress me this way.

The front of the dress went to my knees but the back trailed behind me. But it wasn't tight so I dealt with it.

"No." I said firmly refusing the six-inch heels Persephone was trying to get me to wear. "Either you get me some sensible shoes to wear or I'm going barefoot."

She mumbled incoherently under her breath and offered me a pair of slippers.

"Thank you." I said slipping them on. "Serena, what's bothering you?"

She waited until Persephone left to tell me. "She called you a bad word."

"Did she call me a bitch?" I asked and she nodded. "Guess what Serena."

"What?"

"A bitch is a female dog. Dogs bark. Bark is on trees. Trees are nature and nature is beautiful." I said.

My bad if this chapter seems rushed because it was. It's too damn cold.

At this point we're so desperate that we've even started accepting fire emojis.
