Lauren's P.O.V.

Today was officially the start of the new school year, which means it's senior year for me. I'm pretty anxious about this year since it'll be my last until I'm off to college. Then I'll be off getting a job. I hate thinking about my future, it makes me worry too much that I can't eve think straight.

I miss Luke.

He's my best friend and I've only seen him like once this week, so he could get something he left the other week. It just worries me that our friendship is at stake because of that stupid date. It wasn't completely stupid, but it just wasn't a good day. All I want is my best friend, Luke, whom I miss so much even though it has only been a week.

"See you later kiddo," Mike had said which made me flinch.

"You're not driving me to school?" I asked him.

"Sorry...my boss called me and-"

"I know, your job is important." I sighed.

I just grabbed my bag, phone, and wallet before leaving the house, and a sad looking Mike. I crossed the street, over to someone's house - Michael's. Maybe he can give me a ride since he's heading over to school too. I knocked on the door and waited patiently for someone to open the door, even if it's quarter to seven in the morning.

I was welcomed by Michael's mom and I returned her a smile. She told me Michael was just eating breakfast so I just sat down at the table, watching Michael finish his meal.

"Hey Lauren," he greeted before standing up and leaving his bowl in the sink.

"Hi," I said.

"Need a ride right?" He asked and I just nodded. I followed him out to his car and hopped in as soon as he unlocked it. Maybe it was just my anxiety, but I'm completely shaking.

Michael turned on the radio, but not to loud since I hated loud volumes.

"Are you and Luke okay?" He asked. I looked over to him, and he just shrugged. "I mean you guys haven't hung out in like days and Luke's always coming over to my place or Calum's, or Ashton's. And he's always just so quiet. Do you know anything about that?"

"Actually I don't even know where he has been these days!" I said loudly.

"I- sorry, I just wanted to know." He shrugged.

"No, I'm sorry for acting like a bitch," I sighed.

"It's fine, I just wanted to know if you feel the same about Luke," he says.

"He's my best friend," but I want him to be more. "Of course I feel the same way, I'm worried."

My had dropped me off at the front of the school so he could park. I walked into the courtyard and sat with Calum and Ashton who smiled and asked me about my summer.

I told them about the whole touring around Australia since I wasn't used to this place. I told them about the endless cuddles and movie nights. And how we went to the beach and got sun burnt. I didn't tell them about my date with Luke though, but I'm pretty sure they already know about it.

Michael walked over to us, but no sign of Luke. I was hoping he'd be here since I miss his presence.

"I still find it weird that you're here helping out around school, when, in fact, you could be home free." Michael shook his head at Ashton who gave him a dimpled smile.

"I'm getting paid, so no harm done Mikey." Ashton chuckled.

Both of them started bickering so it was just Calum and I. He wasn't looking at me, he was looking for someone. I just hope he's looking for Luke too.
