Lauren's P.O.V.
It's already the second week of May and I started feeling better. I was back at school, hardly trying to catch up with all the lessons I've missed. And I was back with my friends. Then Dani stared hanging out with me at school since we were on better terms now. Rachel and Jaimee accepted her, not fully yet, but soon they will warm up to her.
Since last week, the day I went back to school, Rachel has been acting strange. She'd be quite and change topics more often. When I was about to bring up what happened at the park she says she has to go to the washroom. Like she was avoiding the topic and memory. Maybe something happened?
We were at the cafeteria lining up to get our lunch. Dani was behind me talking to her friend, Rachel and Jaimee were infront talking. It's bad to listen to what they're saying but I can hear them.
"I don't know if I should tell her...I'm scared."
"C'mon Rachel, she won't be mad. Not unless you did that because you're jea-"
"No Jaimee, I wanted to protect her."
"But you have a thing for him?"
"Maybe a little, I just don't want anyone hurt."
"Well, make a choice then."
After getting our lunch, we sat on our usual table, but we had the table filled since Dani had her friends eat with us. They were basically talking amongst themselves, while my friends and I were not doing anything at all.
I know they're my friends and I should trust them, but what are they hiding?
"So, nice chat between you two huh?" I ask them. I wasn't giving direct eye contact because it'll be more awkward.
The two didn't answer back quickly. They just gave each other glances and sad looks. They looked worried too so I didn't push it much longer. I don't want any conflict between us since they're all I got.
Nothing much happened so basically it was just Dani doing all the talking with her friends. It basically hit me that I forgot it was going to be Rachel's birthday next weekend. Crap, I almost forgot about it.
"Hey, Lauren, are we allowed to use the pool tomorrow?" Dani asks me.
"Yeah, just tell mom."
"Thanks." She says.
Lunch period was shit. No one even tried to talk to me. I just think there's something fishy about Rachel and Jaimee and I really want to find out. They're my friends and I love them, but they shouldn't keep shit from me. If it is about me, it's better to tell me straight than to hide it and let me be the one to figure it out for myself.
I went straight ahead to the next period, trying as much as possible to avoid them. I know I'm being ridiculous but maybe this method will help, maybe.
In class I would pay attention half of the time, and wrote songs the other. I made sure I wasn't being obvious so the teacher wouldn't take away my notebook. Good thing the teacher was that kind of teacher who didn't care as much if we listened, it's not his grades that are on the line here.
We were currently in math class, I think we were just reviewing on trigonometry, like an overview I guess. I really didn't give shit because I don't find it interesting and useful, but I'm good at it. That's why I never get in trouble with mom and the teacher because I pass all my exams and he just knows I'm not stupid.
The bell rung and I packed all my stuff. On que the teacher dismissed us. I left in a hurry to find Dani because I needed to walk home with her today since Christina, Katherine, and Lisa were busy and Amy was sick again. I was in a rush, but Ms. Redolph caught up to me.
