Lauren's P.O.V.

It has been about two weeks since the picnik, and two weeks since I last saw Harry. Since that day soon started two days after. I went to school with a sprained ankle so I had crutches with me. The whole sprained ankle thing made it difficult so I had to stay home the next day. There were two reasons, 1. it made it tough, and 2. people laughed so it wasn't really worth it.

Every day after school Rachel and Jaimee would come by my house and drop off school work I'm missing. This was those moments when I was thankful for their help. Sadly I was really alone at home, mom was at work, the sisters had their classes so basically it was just me.  I was used to it by now, but it was getting to me since I still had a week before they took off the cast and let me walk without crutches again.

Since the picnik, there was one thing that never left my mind, it was Harry. I guess he didn't want to be around me since it'll ruin his reputation. He doesn't want to be seen with someone who has a low jlprofile, that's okay.

"Lauren baby, I'm home!" Mom shouts from the door.

I've been staying mostly in the kitchen or living room since I can't walk much around this house. I was doing the extra credit work the teachers sent so I could keep my grades up, it was sort of a substitute for tests.

Mom walks into the kitchen carrying a few things she got from the supermarket. She even got Tater tots for me which was pretty sweet of her. I'm glad she's trying to be a good mom again, I was kind of really getting used to it by now.

"So how's the school work going hun?" Mom asks, she started assorting the things she bought in the closet in fridge. She was a clean and oranize freak I guess.

"Good, I'm almost finished." I tell her. In fact I was already done, I was just trying to keep myself all occupied so I had more things to do.

"That's great." She says.

We didn't really talk about anything since there was nothing to talk about in the beginning. We just did our own thing and stuck to it. She was organizing and I was writing.

"Mom, do you know what happened to Harry?" I ask her all of a sudden. I notice her body tense up, so there must be  something she knows that I don't.

"Lauren, I told you not to think about him. He caused enough trouble." She sighs. She was starting to prepare the ingredients for whatever she was cooking. I wasn't paying attention to her much even though I know she's saying something. I really didn't want her to scold me like I was 8 years old who has a crush on this boy at the park.

I hope that whatever she is hiding, it is necessary.

"Did you understand?"

"Uh...not actually. I wasn't listening, so could you please repeat that?" I ask all babbled with the things in my head.

"I said that, I knew this Harry boy had good intentions. He's a good boy but he isn't right, you know? If he wanted you not hurt, then he shouldn't have left you the minute we were bringing you to the hospital. And he wouldn't have got you injured at the park. He should've stayed then maybe we would have forgiven him at least." Mom scolds. She was right about a few things, but completely wrong with a lot of things. "I just want the best for you dear," she adds before she started cooking.

I stuffed my school work into my bag, then grabbing my crutches so I could walk. There was no place I could go besides the backyard. By this time of day, I would have loved to dip my feet into the pool water or ride the tire swing, but I couldn't at the moment. Instead I just sat of the bench. It was really just me against the world and time.
