"Asgard is really a beautiful place, the stories doesn't do any of it justice. The people are strong and stoic, the palace has a glow of happiness. Why the fuck am I not happy, what is wrong with me?" Monica asked herself as she sat at the edge of a crystalline river that reflected her frowning face back at her.

Then there was someone behind her. The girl let out a startled  gasp and turned, wrapping her hand around the persons ankle and yanking, making him fall with a grunt. "Who- Thor! Oh god I am so so sorry!"

The god started laughing as Monica kneeled next to him and eventually started laughing too. "Oh god. I attacked the Crown Prince of Asgard, I'm going to hell." She laughed, laying down next to him.

"Outside of getting attacked, I did come to ask you something." He told her, rolling over to look at her.

Monica playfully huffed. "Answering questions isn't as fun as attacking you but I suppose I'll do my best."

"I thank you My Lady. My mother brought up the fact that I would need an advisor, someone I trust to help me rule Asgard, they would have to start learning now but I know you are trying to find something to do while here,"

"Thor, I'd be honored." Monica said with a smile. The god grinned in relief but looked confused when Monica pulled him up. "Now you have to do something for me."

"Anything."

Monica grinned. "Where do you keep musical instruments?" Thor raised an eyebrow but lead her to a large room with the best accustics she had ever experinced. "I'm in love, you have the same instruments as Earth?"

"We had them first." Thor rebuffed smugly.

Monica laughed but grabbed a trumpet and started When the Saints Go Marching In expertly. "God I've missed music." She muttered.

"You are very talented." Thor said, an impressed expression on his face.

Monica grinned and winked at him. "Better be, I spent years working at it." She told him. "But not the trumpet in specific, I just picked that up as a sophomore."

"Sophomore?" Thor asked, tilting his head in an adorable manner.

"It's a level of schooling for fifteen to sixteen year olds in America." She told him. She then put the trumpet back to her mouth and played one of Sousa's marches from memory, making funny faces at Thor while doing it.

The God suddenly stopped laughing, his gaze drawn to behind Monica. The woman whipped around, still playing the march only for her air to stop, ending the tune. "Majesties!" She exclaimed, dropping to a bow.

"Rise Lady Stark, Thor I told you training would start at noon with your new advisor." Odin admonished his son, who laughed nervously.

Monica shot Thor a glare. "That would  have been nice to know." She muttered to him, sending Frigga and Odin a sheepish grin. "My apologies Majesties, I didn't know and distracted Prince Thor from his duties."

Odin smiled and shook his head. "Lady Stark, titles are not necessary I assure you. Odin and Frigga will do nicely."

"Of course Odin and feel free to call me Monica, I'm still not used to the change in government form from democracy to monarchy." She admitted with a small grin.

Odin and Frigga nodded, the later then gestured to the instrument in her hand. "You play?" She asked her.

Monica looked at the shiny gold trumpet and nodded. "Yes ma'am, I play a lot of different things. From strings to brass, to woodwinds, to percussion. I also compose, I have five pieces published on Earth, one in the works, was in the works." Monica said, feeling sad over her lost profession as she continued.

"Then I expect to hear you play for us at the next feast in a month, yes?" Frigga stated.

Monica lit up, her face taking on a new form of happiness Thor hadn't witnessed yet. "I'd love to, a classic or a new one? Which instrument?"

"It's your choice." Frigga told her before walking out.

Odin spoke up then. "Training?" He asked curiously.

Monica had an "ah-ha" look as she nodded quickly and put the trumpet away, following the King and Prince out.

"Today we will review the importance of listening to the people. We will start with those who have-" Odin had started to explain when a group of armed Frost Giants entered the castle. "Nevermind, attack."

Monica ran forward, her suit flying forward on her call with the small bit of magic Frigga had taught her and wrapped around her body just as she jumped to attack the first intruder. Thor, Odin, Monica, and the two gaurds with them worked quickly, ending the small group efficently. Odin turned to his gaurds, ordering them to check the rest of the palace.

Once the gaurds ran off, he turned to Monica and Thor. "Take the parameter of the town and the outskirts of the forest. Start in the south and move in opposite directions, keep going until you run into each other again." He ordered, the two nidded and went to the south point of the castle and the start of the forest, Monica moving North East and Thor running North West.

Monica had only about two miles left to the middle, where she should meet Thor when the ambush happened. Five Frost Giants emerged from the empty farm house to her left and five from the darkened forest on her right, surrounding her as she went on gaurd.

"If you surrender now I swear I won't hurt you that much." She said with a smirk, bluffing of course.

The leader seemed to figure that one out. "You are but a mortal, we should give you that offer."

"I really would surrender, you're outnumbered and I might as well be Mr. Anderson with my moves." She said again, warily trying to find the biggest threat as they all started to converge on her.

The leader twitched his right foot, ready to push into a run. In that moment, monica lit up her repulsors, by the time they were on where she was, she was a foot above their heads and rising. The leader reached up and snatched her foot, swinging her into a nearby tree with enough force to make it shudder.

Monica winced and groaned in pain. She tried to stand but when she looked up there were nine swords to her neck and a raised staff. She had a second to process this before the staff came down on her head and nocked her out.

Thor was concerned when he didn't find Monica at the middle point when he reached it, continuing on with a sharp eye. He got there with enough time to see Monica's head disappear as the Frost Giants left through a secret portal.

Two months prior Thor might have considered following them without back up but his recent experiences on Earth had made him wiser, so he ran to Odin, gathering a crew to retrieve the human girl and try to close the portal.
