I really wished those kids stop pestering my normal days.

'Pestering' is a bit exaggerated and kind of offending to them.

'Disturbing' would be more appropriate.

I skipped school again to finish some paperwork so that I can go back to school tomorrow.

Yes, I still work in the office during weekends.

And I stayed there just to do work, which made Daniel annoyed at my actions.

Because I'm not eating supper for the last two nights.

I've been staying here since Friday night, just to avoid the nobles and those enhanced back at Frankie's place.

Also the kids. They'll just talk and talk, us listening or looking at any place to get lost in thoughts.

But I need a distraction right now.

Muzaka's status is still the same.

We tried waking him, but it's a bit chaotic.

If I didn't have a backup plan, the laboratory would be in mess and there would be a deadly fight in there.

And that backup plan almost made me kill a disoriented Muzaka.

Reality sucks.

I don't really think Muzaka wants to wake up.

He gave his power to Dad, draining him in process.

But the remaining weres want to.

As if he wakes up, something will change.

I'm not pessimistic or what, but from my perspective, the changes would be 5-10% in probability.

Muzaka doesn't want to lead their clan anymore.

The appointed one doesn't want the position and its responsibility.

Talk about cowardice.

That's why I made myself busy with papers.

Don't care with the paper cut I might receive.

I want a quiet place where I can think while doing something.

But that was cut when I heard a noise outside my office.

Voices of kids.

I almost facepalmed myself from what I'm hearing.

Someone brought the kids here.

And the dreaded moment came.

The door opens slowly, as I observe it within my peripheral sight.

I know they're trying to surprise me, but they nailed it when I heard their voices.

So put my head on the table to rest a bit. If the word 'rest' includes a stock of paper used as a pillow and whenever you open your eyes, you see letters at the paper.

Of course, that isn't.

And for the record, at least they didn't disturb me for almost a week. No kids, no noise.

I know it will end sooner or later, better be prepared than nothing.

The kids entered my office, unknown to them I already know they're here.

They're giggling like they've got the most beautiful present in their entire life.

If they think that that was low enough not to be heard by me, of course, they're wrong!

Enhanced senses were included, not just immortality.

But since they're kids, I'll let them do those things. Sooner or later, they'll get tired of that.

And they're not my main problem.

They're not even qualified to be labeled as 'threat' or 'danger'.

They're innocents.

Innocent for the real world.

The real world is far worse than the challenge they face at school.

Just compare it with Savannah and forest, where you must survive and be a cruel organism.

If you don't, you'll be the prey of the cycle.

Problems had been piling up more and faster.

Dad.

Muzaka.

Frankenstein.

The weres.

Nobles.

The Union.

Enhanced humans.

War.

Secrets.

Everything.

Especially these kid's future.

We are not included in that future, as we have ours.

And our daily decisions affect every plan and other's choices and decisions. That's how strong our intervention can do.

"Hey, Cass!"

I was jolted back to reality when Yuna called me.

"You haven't attended the school for a week. Our adviser kept on asking Rai about you." Ikhan said. "Good thing the director told everyone you have your office thing. And these are not paperwork, these are torture!"

Yes, piles of papers with proposal, deals, and construction were on the top of my office desk side by side.

I lift my head. "Ah? This is common for me whenever I left the office for a few days."

"Few days? You're kidding us?" Ikhan exclaimed.

"These papers came from different countries where I established our company. I don't like someone doing my job, they might tamper it or the employees don't get what's intended for them."

"If you're too dedicated to your job, why study?" Sui asked.

"Ask Frankie about that. I don't want to, but he insisted because 'you need it for your own future' sermon. So annoying." I reasoned out.

"Well, the director has some point about that, Cass." Rina said. "You said this is your family's, right? What do you want in the future?"

I already have what I want. "Help people to have a job," I answered.

They slumped their shoulders. "You're hopeless, Cass," Shinwoo said.

"What? That's what I want." I said. "Besides, I'm not that a big dreamer and selfish enough just to dream for myself."

Daniel came in, holding tons of files. "Cass, these came from Japan."

He put it on the top of other files I haven't touched yet. He turned around and talked to the kids.

"Cass is a stubborn one. Make her eat if ever she forgets. And please bear a little bit of her attitude, you know being a --"

"Daniel, if you're trying any funny ideas to put inside their head, I'm going to kill you," I said while looking at the file.

He laughed. "I know you love me, Shiro and Charles, enough not to kill me."

"I didn't say I'm going to kill them also. I only said you, so that means the one I'm implying to is you, Daniel."

"Whatever, Cass." He shrugged and left.

I rolled my eyes at the moment. He's such a pain to me all these centuries.

Can someone remind me why I turn back that idiot back to earth?
