Second world war
Diamond Harbor, HawaiiLiving in an isolated place where the only thing you'll do is watch over the harbor and wait for any signal from the headquarters of an attack happened to other harbor and live like waiting for your death.
That's what the 17th battalion feels right now.
They were posted in this place, away from their loved ones because of the call of duty.
But they're not really a soldier.
Yes, some had entered the academy before the war started. But all of them enlisted themselves so that they can protect the country.
But the boredom and dreaded suspense hanging in the air suffocates them.
The children were playing happily, not knowing what's happening outside of their place. The parents were getting anxious everyday. Some workers already left the place and seek shelters.
But they are staying, waiting and agonizing.
Waiting for something to happen.
Agonizing at the emotions they feel for the place and for themselves.
But in that hellish place, Jason found an angel.
He knows her by the name Elisabeth Jane.
She was the light in that despair place. Known as one of the female doctors known in that field, of course she's a real eye catch.
Flowing black wavy hair that reaches to her mid waist, her coppery brown eyes contrast to her pale skin and wearing a laboratory gown makes you think she's not fit on that place.
But her kindness and smile towards her patients brightens the place.
And that's one of the few things that piqued Jason's interest towards her.
At first, he's undeniably curious to the female doctor of the secluded area, as to why she chose to work there than at city.
As the time flies by, he felt different. He can't stand not seeing or took a glance of her for a day. He always look at her whenever he went to the hospital, pretending to flirt with the nurses.
But Elisabeth's response towards him is different compared to the wounded and patients need medical attention.
She smiles and encourages the patients to stay strong and be positivity despite of the war.
But she wears blank expression whenever Jason's around.
Basic emotions such as smile, and sadness are the only things she learn when she tried to mingle with humans almost a half centuries ago.
She feel different emotions, but she can't describe or understand as to why she feels it.
But when Jason was around, she feels like she want to kick Jason out of the hospital.
Annoyance.
He frequently visits the establishment without any reason, as he rarely gets sick or wounded from the assignment he accomplished.
And for Elisabeth's opinion, he's just trying to get someone's attention inside the hospital.
But she didn't know it was her.
Her usual routine was take a stroll in the ward and the whole place to check the people whether they are still well and no sign of epidemia will spread upon the land.
It looks like the task takes toll on her body as she looks fragile and the place isn't entirely a plain.
She needs to reach the high and isolated places that most family can't go down.
But it favours Elisabeth more as she remembers Lukedonia.
That secret island inhabited exclusively by the nobles and noblesse alone is blessed with different types of landscape that has different purposes for them.
But not in this place. They need shelter and that is the only place available for them.
She usually went there alone with a medical supply, but this time, Jason kept on following her from a distance.
She already noticed him when she entered the forest following the trail to the secluded area.
Elisabeth was getting pissed, as he eyed her like a prey.
It's not that threatens her, but the way he looks, it has some lewd intent.
"Whoever you are, I know you've been following me since I enter the forest." She said, her voice is a bit high so it will produce echo.
Jason went out where he was hiding, a grin plastered in his mouth.
"Hello, lady doctor! It's not safe to walk to the secluded place just by yourself." He said.
"What do you want?" She asked. "You've been in the hospital the last few weeks, talking with the nurses. Isn't that enough for you?"
"Whoa, calm down doctor. I just want to accompany you. You know, girls should be with someone so that they'll be safe." He reasoned out.
"Stop lying. I know what kind of human you are. You use sweet words to please a girl you desire." She said. "Now. What. Do. You. Want?"
"Okay, okay. I'm just curious at you." He admitted.
"Curiosity leads to conflicts and death as a human." She chided.
"You kept saying 'human' as if pertaining that you are not human, are you?" He noticed.
"..."
Elisabeth left him there, pondering at his statement. But he noticed that Elisabeth was walking away in a fast pace, making him run.
"H-hey! Wait up!"
"Leave me alone."
"I can't! You're all alone scouting there! No males dare to accompany you?"
"No. I was raised in a compound where everyone is treated equally. If you are a child of a noble house. Then you are the heir, other than that, you need to work and earn the respect you need." She stopped as she said that.
"That's so liberal!"
"If you're a conservative one, then carry these for me."
She held out the bag full of medical supplies to Jason. He didn't hesitated to pick it, only when Elisabeth let go of it.
Because it was the heaviest baggage he carried in his entire life.
Did she brought the while hospital? This weighs a ton! He said in his mind as he carry the bag.
And that's how their love started.
