Chapter 12

Lisa's POV
I'm in the bathroom braiding Emerson hair which is getting so long. I finished and smiled
"What do you think?" I asked her and she smiled
"I love it mommy" She said and I just hugged her and Adalyn and Lincoln are taking their naps and Emerson actually stopped taking naps so I get some one on one time with her. We were downstairs making cookies and she spoked up
"Mommy you're the best mommy ever" She said and I smiled
"Awe thank you babe" I said hugging her and she hugged me back like these are the things that helps me stay sane, knowing my kids are happy helps so much. She spoked up
"Mommy am I pretty?" She asked and I looked at her
"What?" I asked her and she spoked up
"Am I pretty?" She asked and I took a breath
"You are beautiful Emerson Michelle" I said and she gave me a look
"I don't feel like it" She said and I took a breath like oh my gosh, she's only 6.
"Honey did anyone ever tell you otherwise?" I asked and she put down her head and I spoked up
"Even if someone did say otherwise, would you want to change yourself?" I asked and she made a face
"Okay that's probably hard for you to understand" I said and took a breath
"Listen to me okay? You are beautiful and you don't need to change yourself for anybody" I said and I spoked up
"Do you remember when I had really short hair?" I asked her and she nodded
"Yes" She said and I took a breath
"What do you think I look like?" I asked and she took a breath
"You're beautiful mommy" She said and I smiled "Thanks baby" I said and I spoked up again
"I got comments saying I looked like a boy and that I need to grow my hair, that im too opinionated, too confident, too rude probably everything they can think of" I said and she made a face
"Why did they say that?" She asked and I shrugged my shoulders
"Because they had nothing better to do however here is my point" I said and spoked up again
"Did I grow out my hair for them?" I asked and she shook her head
"No mommy" She said and I spoked up again
"Do you ever see me changing myself for anyone" I said and she shook her head
"No mommy" She said and I smirked and spoked up
"But do you see me travel the world performing?" I said and she nodded
"Yes mommy" She said and I smiled
"Baby girl, we don't change but we can help other people change so they can see other kinds of beauty, and only way we can do that is staying our true selves" I said and I smiled at her
"So my baby girl, you are one of the most beautiful people that I've ever laid my eyes on" I said and she hugged me tight
"I love you mommy" She said and I smiled and kissed her forehead and spoked up
"I love you more"
