Chapter 10

When we got the garage the boys looked they were going to have a go at Freddie but when they saw me they all looked at Freddie questioningly, Freddie threw them a look which I think meant I'll explain later. He then sat me down in the office and made me a drink.

"I'm sorry." I told him and he looked at me shocked, "I've ruined whatever you had going on with Maxine."

"There was nothing really going on, it was obvious that she was trying to make that Patrick bloke jealous."

"You never know she might change her mind." I tried to make it sound like I was reassuring him but I was really trying to convince myself.

"I hope she does." I was shocked but tried to hide it, "I hope she comes running back to me because then I can tell her that we're nothing and never will be."

"There's no need to ruin your chances with her because of me."

"I'm not. She's a bitch so why would I want to date her? She shouldn't have treated you like that." After he said that I hid my face by taking a sip of my drink and I hoped that he wouldn't notice the blush that was on my face.

"I guess she was kind of right with what she was saying about getting involved with the wrong people when I was back at home but then again I could never live up to her perfect image." I kept my face hidden by looking towards the garage and away from him.

"What kind of people?" Freddie asked me and I could tell that he was interested in my past but after what I had seen in the morning I wasn't surprised.

"Fred! I need your help with this!" Joe shouted from the garage and I felt the relief wash over me.

"Don't go anywhere, I'll be back." He told me and then joined his brothers in the garage.

I was glad that he had left me alone because it gave me time to gather my thoughts. My mind was jumbled with the argument that I had with Maxine, she was never usually like that but I guessed I pushed her too far. The words that were mainly running through my head were when she asked me 'Were we not good enough?', I had never actually seen it that way but I guessed that they were never good enough compared to an actual blood relative.

Then my mind strayed to the area that I really didn't want it to stray to but I couldn't help but smile at the fact that Freddie had been there to stick up for me when Maxine was having a go at me, nobody has ever done that for me before I usually take the bullshit so it was nice change.

"You look like you've got the weight of the world on your shoulders." I was startled out of my thoughts to find Sandy smiling at me.

"You could say that." I smiled weakly at her.

"I didn't expect to see you here today." I had a feeling that she might've already been filled in on what had happened back at the flat.

"I didn't expect to be here." I told her and looked down at my feet nervously, I didn't know why I felt nervous but I kind of did.

"The boys told me about what happened." So I was right, "Don't be mad at them."

"I'm not mad. What exactly did they tell you?" I glanced towards the garage and saw the boys watching us.

"That your sister was a bitch to you and kicked you out." She sounded like she was quoting exactly what they had said.

"Oh." I didn't know what else to say.

"I don't want to ask why because it might be something personal but I know that it's not bad otherwise the boys wouldn't have begged me to let you stay." The guys wanted me to stay? "And I can't say no to them so I guess you're staying with us until everything has blown over with your sister."
