Chapter 18

"What are you all doing tonight?" Joe asked everyone.

We were all sat in the living room eating lunch and just chilling out when Joe brought it up.

"Why? Oh you and Lindsey want the place to yourselves?" Ziggy tried to tease Joe.

"Yeah so I want all of you out." He answered him and everyone began discussing what they were doing.

"I'm at the deli tonight." Jason told him and I remembered him telling me that Doug had rung and asked him to cover the deliveries.

"Why are you at the deli tonight?" Freddie asked him confused.

"Because we're going out." Robbie told him gesturing to me and him.

"Where are you going?" Freddie carried on his interrogation.

"Out. It has nothing to do with you where." Robbie sounded pretty annoyed that Freddie was asking him the questions.

"I'm just concerned about my little brother." He tried to make it sound convincing but I could tell that he was just being nosey because he wanted to know exactly where we were going.

"Well I'm old enough to look after myself." Robbie retorted back and Freddie laughed.

"Then start acting like you are."

Robbie opened his mouth to reply but I stopped him.

"We're off to the club." I informed Freddie and Robbie shot me a glare, "What?" I asked him and he shook his head.

"You're not old enough to go the club." He stated the obvious and Robbie just shrugged in response.

"I'm seventeen not seven, I'm eighteen in like a month." I told him as my answer and he glared at me.

"I still don't think it's a very good idea. Anything could happen to you." Freddie looked pointedly at me when he said this but then amended his sentence, "To the both of you."

"Fred you were doing a lot worse at their age." Joe told him and I was glad that someone was sticking up for us, "But you do need to be careful."

The rest of the conversation carried on around me as I began thinking to myself how strange it was that we sounded so much like a family compared to what I was used to. Don't get me wrong I wasn't brought up horribly but everyone's focus used to be on Maxine or Anne so I was kind of left to do my own thing and nobody seemed to care if I was being careful or not.

I felt someone watching me and I turned my head to see Freddie watching me from the sofa that he was sat on, I smiled at him but he just broke the eye contact and acted as if he hadn't even seen me, what the hell was his problem?

I decided that now would be a perfect time to clear my head and go see a friend because I felt that if I stayed I would end up winding myself up about the fact that Freddie was pissed at me once again.

"I'm going out for a bit." I announced and stood up from the sofa.

"Where are you going?" Robbie asked me.

"Out. I'll be back soon though." I promised him and he must've known that I was getting at the fact that I wasn't backing out because I was sure that I saw him let out a sigh of relief.

I heard everyone mumble bye and then carry on with their conversations but Freddie seemed intent on ignoring me totally.

I didn't know exactly where I was heading but I decided to let my feet take me wherever they wanted to go, I had been originally planning on going to talk to Jim but he hadn't spoken to me since I asked him about Joel so I chose to just leave him to make his mind up.
