The moment Evangeline felt Elijah's lips press against her own, her eyes fluttered shut and she fell under his spell. As their lips moved against one another, it was almost as if every thought, every worry, every fear that had developed over the last few months slipped away, and it was only the two of them. Evangeline felt herself sink against Elijah as he pulled her body closer to his own. Both vampires had dreamed of nothing else since their first kiss, and were equally as eager to continue. Evangeline felt her heart begin to pound erratically at the feeling of Elijah's surprisingly cool lips against her own. Caught up in the moment, she wound her arms around his neck, pulling him closer as he chuckled deeply against her mouth. His lips continued to glide softly over hers, applying a gentle pressure, and slowing the kiss down. One of his hands lifted off of her waist and sweetly cupped the back of her neck, every so often trailing his thumb across the skin of her throat. The very feeling caused Evangeline to shudder from his touch. The hand that was left on her waist pressed her closer, her entire body resting against his own. As Elijah lifted her up onto the countertop,  Evangeline felt her heart begin to pound loudly, and suddenly, every moral thought seemed to rush to mind, overwhelming her. Evangeline quickly pulled away, her head full of resistance.

"Wait." She spoke meekly, attempting to catch her breath.

"Maybe we should slow down." Elijah chuckled, gently tucking back a piece of raven hair behind her ear.

"No, it's not that, it's just..." Evangeline felt herself trailing off, unsure if she even wanted to know the answer to her question.

"What?" He asked warmly, placing a reassuring hand on her cheek. "What is it? You can tell me."

"Is this real? You and me? Are you sure you want this?"

"Without a doubt, darling." Elijah sighed, resting his forehead against her own. "What I said before was stupid, selfish, and completely unnecessary. I was afraid of falling in love again after all these years and I resorted back to my old ways. I don't know why I thought that trying to ignore you would work out when absolutely every moment, you had me second guessing my decision. Whether it was your contagious laugh, that stunning smile, or those beautiful hazel eyes... It is now that I realize what I feared before is worth it, you're worth it. I would rather spend every day by your side, being with you, and loving you, than to spend an eternity full of regret that I let you get away. I love you Evangeline Dubois, and I'm not afraid to admit it to myself anymore. I hope you can forgive me for the pain I've caused you. I know I will never be able to forgive myself."
