Look outside.
I did. From the balcony, I waved at Mark who was looking up from the ground.
You wanna come in?
I held up my phone and gestured him to check his.
Can I?
I chuckled while going down the stairs to the front door.
"Good morning, even though its noon," I said.
Mark jogged his way to the porch, probably smiling under his mask because I could tell from his eyes. Its exactly what I live for every single day.
He was about to embrace me into a hug but I stopped him from doing so.
"Kiera?" he looked a bit worried.
I extended out a hand to him. He took it and I pulled him inside while closing the door behind us.
"Sorry," I laughed. "I just wanted to make sure no one sees us."
He removed the mask that was covering his face and pulled me into a deep hug. I buried my face into his chest and breathed in his scent. He held me even tighter before letting me go. "I missed you so freaking much," he said while looking into my eyes.
I don't know how it is that every time this happens I just couldn't seem to keep my calm. It's like that adrenaline type of feeling you always have when you are a few weeks into the relationship has not died down – maybe its because Im still in my teen years. "Me too," I replied.
"Is no one home?" he questioned while glancing across the house.
I shook my head. "But grandma should be home soon." It would be nice if we could spend time here without actually doing anything special but that's probably impossible. Sometimes, it's the small things that we do together makes life a little bit more interesting. It's just amazing how the little things can matter so much.
"I guess we should go somewhere else soon then," Mark pointed out. "Anything particular you want to do?"
"Nothing much, really."
Just then, there the front door was opened. Grandma's back. "Kiera, can you grab a broom? Its quite sandy here."
Mark and I instantly exchanged terrified glances. Soon, she was in the living room where the both of us were.
"Look whos here," she exclaimed in teasing manner. At that moment, all I could think of was, were caught.
I raised my eyebrows at Mark to help get out of the situation. I was truly panicked but all he did was smile at me.
"Grandma, its not what you think it is. We just... I didn't know you were coming back this soon. So..." my voice shook in an attempt to explain the situation.
She chuckled while rubbing my back. "Its alright. No need to explain." She continued giggling to herself while I felt uneasy. I let out a nervous laughter.
"I think I'm going to out for a bit. See you later, Grandma! I'll be back soon." I was already turning the knob of the front door while my other hand dragged Mark outside.
"You don't have to come back soon," she screamed from inside. I could hear the smirk on her face. "Mark, treat her well!"
"Of course!" Mark replied right before I closed the door. By the time we reached his car, Mark was laughing out loud.
"Eh?" I blinked.
"You were so scared," he uttered and laughed even harder. When he was finally calm, he leaned toward my ears and whispered, "It's not like we did something."
