Minho's POV

"The alarm went off in the middle of the day, then that girl came up. This is crazy, we've never had two Gladers in a row come up let alone two girls. This girl that came up through the box, we thought she was dead until she sat up. She said, 'Everything's going to change'. The second her crazy head hit the floor I heard Malaya's scream. As if what the girl in the box said was true, everything did change."

Newt explained with an almost defeated tone as we walked towards the homestead to find out if Clint had a thought about Malaya yet. This was unlike anything we've seen before, why would Clint know what's going on?

Newt rubbed his neck as we crossed the glade, I could see the gears turning in his head, he was thinking the worst, as was I. Malaya was basically my sister, of course I was scared for her, I cared about her. I mean Newt definitely cared more, but we shouldn't talk about that right now.

We slipped into the dusty homestead before he jumped up the rickety stairs, the wood creaking like it would break under our weight at any second. My mind raced with all the possibilities that Malaya would come out of this badly, but how? What even happened to her?

We walked down the hall until we stopped at the door where we could hear Clint and Jeff chatting in rushed tones. We marched in quickly and Newt folded his arms, averting his eyes from the girl wrapped in the blanket, the only sign she was alive was the movement in her chest.

"What's going on? how is she?"

Newt asked as he tried to sound like he was unfazed with the fact she was screaming before, Newt's nose didn't look broken, but boy did it bleed a lot. His face was still stained with blood outlines and it was gross. She did a good amount of damage.

Clint looked up as Jeff took his spot on the stool next to Laya as he sponged her forehead.

"Don't know man, I never seen this before"

Clint said rubbing his neck, he sighed heavily before turning around to look at her again.

"She's been mumbling all sorts of weird stuff since she was put into the bed"

This intrigued Newt and I more, mumbling stuff? It had barely been ten minutes. I cleared my throat before walking forward beside Newt, maybe listening to what she's yabbering about could let us know what's going on with her.

"Stuff? Like what?"

I asked with a blank face and Jeff passed Clint a notepad which I could see had scribbles scattered across the lined page. Newt took it from Clint with interest fogging his eyes, I knew he loved her, as more than a friend, it was obvious, so I knew he was worried about her.

I leaned over and scanned over the page as did Newt. I was confused, the other girl that came up today seemed to suggest that things were going to change, Malaya thought so too, but she was against it.

'It's going to get worse'

'find a way out fast'

'I know the way out, they told me'

That last thing she said had me intrigued, she knew the way, how? Was she talking about the maze? but if she did know the way wouldn't she have told us? I folded my arms before clearing my throat.

"she claims to know the way? What could that mean?"

I asked and Newt growled, I don't know at what but he sounded like Bark when you tried to touch Malaya. Well, I guess he and the dog can relate in some ways then. He didn't say anything, he just read over the page again, not saying anything. Stupid shank needs to relax.
