I had carried her away, walking as far as I could until I put her to her feet near the barn. We couldn't escape the sound of grinding doors and screaming, all I could door was pull her into a hug and press my hands to her ears.

She had started crying, loudly, her body trembling in either fear or pain. I could hear her begging for me to help her, like somehow, I could make all the pain go away. Oh, how I wish I could.

"Please Newt, just make it stop. It hurt's so much, I don't want to go back, I can't remember any of you there"

She started saying with staggered breaths as she cried. The sound of Ben's cries broke off with the boom of the cement doors slamming shut. Malaya buried her face into my chest as her breathing staggered with her crying. Her hands clutched to the leather straps holding my knife to my back. The words she said next made my world spin in both misery and adoration.

"I don't want to forget you"

She whimpered as she clutched to me tighter, I pulled her closer, but she suddenly burst into a scream before she ripped away from me. Her eyes were bloodshot, like she hadn't blinked in years. I had a firm grip on her wrist, I wasn't letting her go, fear ripped through her face. She was gone again.

"No, no more needles please, I can't take it anymore"

Neither could I, I yanked her forward and ducked my head. I don't know if it was the spare of the moment sort of thing or it was just pure genius. My lips crushed over hers and her body went stiff, her whimpering had stopped completely. Her eyes were clamped shut, closely followed by mine.

My head spun at the feeling of her soft lips, it was surreal, how would I think I would end up here? I released my hand on her wrist and left it gently resting on her shoulder. I couldn't believe what I was doing, now that I was actually thinking about it... this could help... she would remember me, just like the plaque triggered her mind, could this do the same.

The gentle mutter of the glader's seemed to disappear from my ears, like it hadn't been there at all, I could feel the heat from her cheeks grow stronger by the second. She still stayed stiff, but she didn't pull away either, I was having a hard time deciding if it was a good or bad thing.

We stayed like that for a few more moments until she jolted slightly. I was shocked and my heart gave a flutter as she relaxed, her shoulders let go of the tension she was holding before she flinched again.

I urged myself to pull away, removing my hands and stepping back, just encase she freaked out again, I'm lucky she didn't break my nose last time. Her eyes were wide open and a hopeful light glinted in my chest, her pupils were normal and she looked around.

I hoped to god that this bloody worked, her brows creased together as she slowly turned to look at me. Her deep chocolate brown eyes perfectly reflected her hair, her soft pink lips pulled into a thin line.

Her eyes swallowed mine as she looked up at my, my heart seemed to pound harder as I saw every detail of her face, the flecks of colour in her brown orbs, the small scar on the top of her lip. The deep crimson colour that took over her cheeks, she suddenly found looking into my eyes rather hard, looking down at the ground in a nervous way.

"Newt?... what... what happened?"

I was shocked, yet overwhelmed, she was back. She didn't remember a thing? A huge smile broke onto my face as I pulled her into a tight hug. She gasped and awkwardly put her hands on my chest, like she didn't know what to do with herself.

"Laya, you've been out two days. I'm so glad you're back"

I laughed with joy as my heart screamed with relief, I was so relieved this had worked. I gently put her down only to see her whole face a deep and embarrassed red, what was she so embarrassed about?
