It was nightfall and we had all finished our chats and where heading for bed, I was so glad to be able to slump into my warm sleeping bag, it was a little squishy now that Bark was buried in with me, he laid near my chest his head sticking out where my head would be too. He was such a good dog.

I patted his head as I looked at the other Gladers sleeping near the towering corn fields. They were all a family, weren't they? They all worked together and made sure everyone was working too, even though Newt was assigned as my guardian, I don't think I need one. Most people were really nice, or maybe they were nice because Newt was my guardian. I do get the occasional Cat call but I ignore it.

I still wanted out of this maze but for now, being stuck here didn't seem entirely bad, I had three great friends, even Alby might come under the fourth if he keeps his good attitude up. Plus, my little companion Bark who never wanted to leave my side now. I felt ok, safe, protected. It was a good feeling, maybe I will fit in after all.

...

It was about a week later, I had been nearly all the work trials. It had become quite repetitive lately. Wake up, eat, go to work, finish, eat, shower, bed, repeat. But complaining isn't going to get me a better lifestyle, this place isn't a resort I guess, as much as I wish it was.

I was helping Zart in the field's today, Bark at my side, my hair tied out of my face with an old reed I stole from a wicker basket. To be honest this is by far the best of all my trials, the rest seemed to go so bad. I'll give a bit of a run down:

Med-jacks, I nearly killed a slicer when he came in for a cut, I basically impaled the poor guy with a stiches needle. Besides I didn't like that job all that much.

Builders, I punched Gally in the face and fractured my finger

*flashback*

"just call me captain Gally shank, I'm the real leader"

He smirked and I could feel my fists balling at my sides, I shouldn't but god did I want to. I tried my best to just follow behind him as he lead me to where we were building more fences, I wonder how many wooden rods I can get through his head before Alby found out.

We stopped by the wood and the tools and Gally turned around again, taking one look at Bark before he sneered at me, I could practically feel Barks growl against my leg.

"No dogs, he can go back to the barn. Where the animals belong"

I really want to tell myself that Gally is secretly a nice guy and that he just bullies people because he's afraid of getting hurt, but that would be lying, I hate this guy with a passion. Bark was staying here.

"No, Bark is staying. Now, captain looser what are we doing?"

He growled back at me before glaring in my face, anger seething through him.

"look in my eyes greenie, do you see how serious I am?"

I scoffed as I tried to calm myself down, I was going to punch him, I was going to hit him. I shook my head before giving him a sarcastic tone.

"no, I can't see anything, your eyebrows are too over powering"

I scoffed and he glowered at me further, getting right in my face. ok that's It, he's got ten seconds to back the shuck up before I beat his shuck ass.

"want to say that again?"

Screw ten seconds.

"No need, I can fix them"

That was all I said before I punched him square in the face, my hand burning with pain making me yelp loudly. Worth it, I nearly whispered to myself as I watched him crumple to the ground holding his face. yes, finally I got to hit him. I growled at him as he flew his eyes to me.
