Malaya's POV
I stirred as I felt myself waking up slowly, I wasn't up to opening my eyes, I just wanted to sleep, my internal clock was telling me to get up. But I knew for a fact it wasn't the right time. I opened my eye a little as I looked at my watch. I had woken at the perfect time to get up to go running.
I don't need to do that anymore, do I?
Well I can sleep in then. Bark had gone, he must have gotten up in the middle of the night or something. I didn't really mind, someone must have let him out. Maybe Newt let him out. I don't know, he'll be ok.
I closed my eyes again, rolling over to burry my face into Newt's chest, he had an arm under my pillow, his other arm around my waist. I leaned back a little to look up at him, his blonde locks fell in a mess around his head. His chest raised and fell in a steady rhythm as he slept.
I have no idea when we left the glade last night, I vaguely remember Newt carrying me into the homestead, other than that I have no idea.
I looked over the features of his face, his lanky but toned body, his defined jaw line and high cheek bones. The perfect youthful face. I could picture his perfect eyes glimmering back at me with the mesmerising smile and adorable dimples.
I could picture the crow's feet by his eyes crinkle up with every grin, the way he rubbed his bottom lip on the tips of his top teeth. Or the way he rubs his thumb nail on his lip when he thinks. He seemed far too innocent for this world.
I averted my eyes, finally realising that I was in fact watching him sleep and that was horrible. I cuddled up to him, closing my eyes as I waited the time out.
I thought over everything that happened yesterday and tried to banish it. I wanted to start fresh, try to go back to being calm and as carefree as you can get here. I just needed to get rid of the memories of yesterday.
Done and done.
Newt shifted in his sleep slightly, his arm tightening around me as he fixed his head position on the pillow. The bed was only single, but I didn't mind being this close to Newt. I guess it was better than sleeping outside. One hundred percent.
I had the urge to wake Newt up, but I told myself not to. He had a rough day yesterday too.
Gently he pulled me closer again, but still he slept, his face nuzzling into my neck as a deep sigh left his mouth. My chest pressed flush against his. Though his warmth sent a wave of comfort through my body.
Time passed slowly, I drifted in and out of sleep as the sound of the Gladers making noise outside boomed on. It seemed like a good hour later when Newt's breathing sharpened, and he showed signs of waking up.
I was glad, I felt like I was missing him, even though he was right there in front of me. Sleeping. I guess I could be called needy. I also wanted to know what was happening today, I don't have a job anymore. I guess I follow him around, but don't I have to be put to another job. Newt is the one always talking about order.
I felt Newt's lip pull into a smile along my skin before he kissed my collar bone, slowly lifting his head so his bright eyes met mine. His hair was a mess, but isn't it always? Minho's the only one with nice hair in the Glade, even I was losing to that guy.
"Morning M"
I said in a husky voice and I smiled. I had noticed the new nickname, Just M. I liked it a lot more, I don't know why, I guess it's because everyone calls be Maya, or Laya or May. Only Newt calls me M, it was an attachment.
"Morning"
I muttered and he sighed, rolling onto his back as the arm that was under the pillow slipped around my waist, as if leaving me completely wasn't possible. It always seemed to make me feel like I was special.
