Minho's POV
It was getting late, the gates would close any second. I was happily sitting in the Kitchens with Thomas, Newt and Bark at my side. Though something was off, Newt looked a little lost without Malaya, where had she gotten too?
I was starting to get worried actually, I haven't seen her since yesterday. This place wasn't that big, how far could she go? Newt had been asking where she'd gone for a while now, but he sort of died down.
No one had come up and explained where she was, even Frypan said she had left some time ago. Chuckie wasn't around to ask, and Thomas had only just gotten here to sit down. Newt hadn't even opened his mouth to Thomas yet, something weird was going on between the two of them. I knew for a fact it was over Malaya.
It was petty that Newt was so possessive over Thomas, and it was only with Thomas as well. I saw Malaya hugging Jack the other day and Newt didn't even flinch, for some reason Thomas puts him on edge.
But my biggest worry is where Malaya was. I drummed my fingers on the table as possibilities swirled in my mind, I was tempted to get Bark to go looking for her, but then maybe she just wanted her privacy, I know sometimes she gets upset.
"Maybe she just wants to be alone?"
I didn't even believe myself so when Newt shook his head and said nothing I wasn't surprised. Now Thomas chirped up, his eyes wondering between us like a dog who had done something wrong.
My stomach dropped, Thomas had been hit by clear realisation, if he knows where she is, Newt is going to flip, I know how protective he is over that girl. Things could get bad, if he has just forgotten to let us know where she is.
"Malaya?"
Thomas asked, his voice a little shaky. We both snapped to look at him and he jumped, Newt was the first to talk. Which was both shocking and worrying all at once, I could almost smell a fight happening.
"You know where she is?"
Newt almost accused, he was not a happy shank when Malaya was: A, sick. B, Missing or C, upset. That seems to be the reason why so many people are nice to Malaya, not that she's done anything that would make people hate her. Everyone just seems to respect the girl. I sure do.
Thomas swallowed hard as he tried to play it cool. Though it looked like he was choking on a plastic bag.
"Yeah, I saw her before, she was going to the homestead to see the greenie"
My stomach did flips, and Newts face lit up with a rage I had never seen. I myself was worried. Newt jumped to his feet as he glowered down at Thomas.
"What?!"
This wasn't good, I know why Newt had been distracting Malaya from wanting to go see the girl. Me and him were both worried that she would see her and something would trigger in her brain like it did Thomas. She thought Thomas was familiar and Thomas thought the girl was familiar. There is a chance that Malaya could find the coma girl familiar and go back into insane babbling.
I jumped up as well just as Newt turned to leave in a hurry, I was right behind him. My heart was pounding in my ears as fear for my sister's safety scorched my insides. I didn't like this. But if she had gone crazy, someone would have come and got Newt right. It's all good.
"Newt!"
My eyes snapped up to Jeff who was standing in the doorway, pale and frightened as he shook his head. That settled it, something was wrong. I didn't think twice as I broke into a flat-out sprint, Newt close behind.
