Chapter 22: The Search Party

Meanwhile, Selare, who was Drakar's mastrer, along with Astrid, Selare's childhood friend, went on a quest to find Drakar. Last time, during the battle between the Demons and the kingdom of Serdin, Drakar fell unconscious during the battle. He was mistaken to be as resident of the kingdom and was rescued by the Hero Scarlet. Now Drakar is missing for the Demons.

"So~ how are we supposed to find your boy friend?" Astrid said in a teasing tone.

"W-What? Bbbboy friend? He's not my boyfriend. He's just my familiar and I'm his master. Nothing romantic is happening between us." Selare replied but flushed red.

They just got out from the Demon lair and they are now riding on their horses. On their way to find Drakar.

"What I meant was literally a boy and a friend. Jeez. You don't have to be so defensive." Astrid sighed.

"Well then, next time be sure to make what you mean clear. The way you say it is really easy to undertstand."

You say that, but the way you reacted makes what you said rather the opposite. Selare, after all these years you're still so obvious. Astrid thought.

"We're heading northwest. The nearest kingdom from the kingdom of Serdin is the kingdom of Eshla. That is where they probably could have taken Drakar. Since the kingdom of Eshla is also more likely where they evacuated the civilians and where the soldiers retreated." Selare explained.

It feels like I'm seeing a different person. Looks like Selare have grown up after all over all these past years. Astrid thought feeling impressed.

They finally arrived at the front gate of the kingdom of Eshla. They are currently hiding from the bushes from a forest a few kilometers away from the gate. They have to be stealthy. They can't risk getting caught. That is why they brought cloaks in order to hide their Demon physical features.

There are 4 guards that a are patrolling at the gate, 2 more guards at the top of the walls holding crossbows.

"How do I look?" Astrid asked while trying to cover the sides of her face using the hood of the cloak.

"You look very suspicious and I could tell that your obviously a Demon." Selare answered with a poker face.

"What!? How could you tell?" Astrid followed.

"I can see your tail wiggling behind you back." Selare answered.

"Oh shoot! I forgot about that." Astrid said and then tried to hide her tail. She did it by belting it on her waist and then hiding it down using her shorts.

"There." Astrid said after she's finished.

Selare approved by giving her a thumbs up. Selare also hid her Demon features using the cloak she brought.

Selare has horns, wings, and a tail while Astrid has horns and a tail. Their only difference is that Selare had her little succubus bat-like wings.

They were all set and ready and was about to go walk to the front gates when suddenly.

"Stop right there!" One of the guards stopped a man that was about to enter the gate.

The man was also wearing a robe and was carrying a basket filled with herbs. Two guards went to his side and then began inspecting him. They did it by tapping the man on the waist and by checking what's inside the basket.

"Ok, it's clear." The guard that was inspecting the mean did a thumbs after clearing his inspection and then the other guards opened the gates.

"Thank you sirs." The man said and went inside the kingdom.

Selare and Astrid did not anticipate that the guards of the kingdom of Eshla would be so strict.

Astrid swallowed then said "I think we should come up with another way to enter the castle."

"Don't worry. I have just the thing that can help us get our way in." Selare said and then went to her horse. From there she took an item from the bag that was attached to the saddle of her horse.

Selare then presented an item to Astrid with a "charan!".

"What is that?" Astrid asked raising a borw. It was a potion that contains pink liquid.

"This is an invisibility potion. By drinking this we can turn invisible for only a short amount of time." Selare said as if endorsing the invisibility of potion.

"The merchant that I bought this from said that drinking the whole bottle can make us invisible for 10 minutes. But there are two of us, so each of us will only be drinking half of the potion. We will share this invisibility potion. Since we will only be drinking half, that gives us half of its effect. Meaning, we have 5 minutes of invisibility after drinking the potion." Selare explained.

"Brilliant. Let's do it." Astrid agreed.

Selare removed the cap of the invisibility potion and chugged it until it's halved, and then she gave the other half to Astrid who then drank the potion till it's empty.

In a few seconds, they can already see the invisibility potion taking its effect. Their bodies are slowly dissipating.

"It's working!" Selare said in awe.

They waited until the dissipation of their bodies and the effect of invisibility potion to complete. But a minute has already past and only their bodies are invisible. Their clothes are still visible.

"What is happening? Why are only our bodies invisible?" Astrid asked.

"Maybe we need to wait a little more for the invisibility to take effect on our clothes too." Selare said suggesting they wait.

And so, they waited until their clothes turn invisible. But it has been 3 minutes since they drank the potion and still, their bodies are the only ones that are invisible.

"It doesn't seem like our clothes are going to be invisible anytime sooner." Astrid said impatiently.

"You're right, the invisibility potion can only make our bodies invisible not along with our clothes." Selare said disappointed.

"That potion was terrible idea." Astrid crossed her arms.

"Oh I know! We'll just strip off all of our clothes so we'll be completely invisible."Selare suggests giggling proud of herself for coming up for a brilliant plan.

"If we did that and did successfully have gotten inside the kingdom. After a few seconds the invisibility would wore off. Without our clothes we'll be completely naked. Did that occur to you?" Astrid said in an irritated tone.

Selare's cheeks flush red after imagining the scenario if they were exposed naked inside the kingdom.

"No! I don't want that!" Selare squealed shaking her head no.

Astrid let out a sigh then said "There's got to be a way to get in."

After a few seconds, their invisibility finally wore off and their bodies slowly turned back to normal.
