Chapter 24: A Knight In Shining Armor

Reid was troubled by losing the necklace the king gave him when he was tasked to retrieve the deceased queen's crown. The king had given him the necklace where it's cross pendant serves as the key to unlocking the vault that holds the deceased queen's crown.

Reid realized that he dropped the necklace when he bumped with a woman who was wearing a robe back at the main city of the kingdom. Now he has come back to the city to find the woman whom he bumped with.

But before that.

"Good morning sir. Would you like to rent a room?" An old lady from the counter asks the brown haired man that just entered her inn.

The old lady also noticed that this man that just came in had large eye bags from his cheeks. She figured that this man needed some sleep so she offered him a room. The old lady showed a worried expression.

The man was Reid.

"Yes please." The Reid replied shortly.

"What kind of room would you like to take? We have a deluxe and a regular type of room."

"Regular. I won't be long."

Then the old woman crouched down to get the key to a room and then handed over to Reid.

"Here are the keys."

"Thank you Miss." Reid.

The key had a tag and the room number was engraved on it.

Reid went to his room, closed the door, and then quickly lies down on the bed. He falls completely fast asleep as soon as he closed his eyes without even taking his armor off.

Meanwhile, Selare just got back at the inn after selling the necklace she got from the Knight she bumped with. From there doorway, she saw that Astrid was seating at one of the tables. She also noticed that Astrid was not seating there alone. Rather, she as accompanied by someone she herself have not known of, a teen boy.

She watched them for a while as they do a toast and drink chug their ales empty. Selare finds that there have been half a dozen of empty bottles on their tables.

They must've been drinking for a long while now. Tch, first thing in the morning and she's already drinking alcohol with some random guy. Selare made a mad expression as she thought.

Selare approaches drinking Astrid and stud at the side of their table.

"Well well well. Look what we have here." Selare said crossing her arms while thumping her foot.

From having fun and laughing, Astrid's expression turned to a surprised, along with the teen boy as well.

"Selare! You're back! Zhid ju gjet ze moni(Did you get the money)?" Astrid said with a drunken tone.

"I did. I sold the necklace. You drink fist thing in the morning? Do you even have money to pay for all of these?" Selare said in a naggy tone.

"Hush mah bestie! All of these ales are for free! Ain't that right teeny boy?" Astrid wraps her arms around the teen boy's neck who was sitting there drinking with her.

The eyes of the teen boy were locked on Astrid's chest as his face was flustered.

"Indeed~" The teen boy replied with a smirk.

Selare snapped and forcefully pulled Astrid from her seat to stand.

"We're leaving."

Selare pulled Astrid to the counter and from there she took the pouch of money from her pocket and took plenty of silver coins she didn't bother counting and then gave it to the old lady at the counter. What she gave was more than enough for their expenses.
