Mom had warned me on the way home we had some unexpected guests over. I knew exactly what she meant when she said that, not because of my psychic skills but because it was almost always uncle Aiden or uncle Ace.When we pulled into the driveway I noticed three new cars, we always have an abundance of cars since we have about thirty people living at the Packhouse right now.
I recognized Aiden and Ace's. But the black dodge challenger was a new addition.
"Who's car is that?" Mom shifted the car into park and looked over at me. "Possibly some new members." I opened the car doors and we headed inside. "I hate when you call them members makes me feel like we run a cult or something."
"What do you want me to call them?" She asked with a cocked eyebrow. "I dunno, new people?"
I opened the door and I immediately got squished to death by hugs, from my goofy uncles. "Air...Need...Air." I said dramatically. "Wassup little Willow?" Ace asked. He knows I hate when he calls me that, Apparently I look just like my mom so that means I'm Little Willow.
"I was indeed given a name you know. It Kayla."
Dad walked by and ruffled my hair. "Hey Pumpkin." I smiled. "Hey, Dad. What's up with the newbies?" I asked referring to the new members as my mom likes to call them. "Family just moved down here to enroll their kids in our school, they had to leave their old pack and they don't want to be rogues any longer than needed." He looked like he was in a rush which is usually the case so I sent him a nod and a smile and he headed to his office.
"So, Kay what's new?" Aiden asked.
"Nothing just got detention today."
Luckily mom wasn't close enough to hear. She always gets so worked up over me not making the best decisions or getting in trouble, But, I have a feeling she did dumb stuff when she was my age too.
"Why?" Aiden said with his eyes squinted.
"This guy got me in trouble."
"Name?" Ace asked with his eye raised.
Overprotective much? Like seriously I get it enough from my dad. "Aden." Aiden gasped.
"That little shit stole my name." I let out a small laugh and threw my backpack onto the couch.
"It's spelled differently don't worry."
"Why are you guys here?" I grabbed a water bottle from the fridge. "Are we not allowed to visit our favorite niece." I took a huge gulp of my water then put it back in the fridge.
"I'm your only Niece and technically we aren't really related so I'm more of a nonbiological."
Aiden bent down and threw me over his shoulder. "You and your mom both have attitude problems."
"It's not a problem!" Mom yelled from across the hall. "Mom aren't you going to help me!" She just laughed. "Guess not," I mumbled.
I look up from Aiden's back and saw that Ace had picked up Liam and he was riding on his shoulders. "How come Liam gets a fun shoulders ride, and I have to deal with your shoulder digging into my rib cage?"
"Because I'm less dramatic," Liam responded.
What does being less dramatic have to do with being attacked? I have no idea. "He's right." Aiden agreed, I hit him on the back. "You know this isn't really an even playing field, you guys are giants."
"And you're tiny and easy to aggravate." He wasn't wrong. I had always had a bit of a temper problem, but it's not my fault I get it from both sides of the family. I've gotten used to being picked up though, apparently to the giants it's fun and I don't mind it as much as I say I do.
Aiden dropped me onto the couch in the gaming room, my hair fell down and into my face, it was nicely straightened by yours truly this morning and now it was back to being thick and a bit frizzy.
I got off the couch and punched Aiden in the arm. "Not cool dude."
"I know you can punch harder than that." Ace said egging me on. I got into a fighting stance and held my hands in front of my face. "Come at me then."
Ace put on a fake serious face and ran at me.
He picked me up and twirled me around like a was a little kid, I was gonna kick him in the shin but I was too busy laughing.
"So this Aden kid, why is he getting you in trouble?" He moved his eyebrows up and down suggestively. "Nothing like that. He's just a dickwad."
"Woah watch it, your little bro is in here." Ace said taking a seat next to me on the couch. Sometimes I forget I'm the older sibling, Liams only thirteen but he is a good five inches taller than me and he has an old soul, sometimes I wonder if he has been possessed with the ghost of the old man that lived here before us.
"He says worse things than that all the time and so do you guys," I said with amusement.
"She's not wrong," Liam said as he put some zombie video game in and handed all of us a controller.

After saving the human race from some zombie werewolves, Aden helped mom with dinner while Dad watched a little to close and did whatever pack stuff he was working on.
I have this strange feeling that Aden and mom might have been a thing once because every time Aiden comes over Dads always watching.
And when I asked him about he just said, "I have no idea what you're talking about, nothing happened between them." Then I would mumble under my breath and say clearly you think so and that would be the end of the conversation.
But, I know mom well enough to know that she is too head over heels for dad and I think it just makes Dad worry since Aiden kinda goes from girl to girl.
I know he was with some chick named Sarah and they were gonna have a baby together but Sarah lost the baby and left him for someone else. If that wouldn't give someone commitment issues I don't know what would.
I pulled up a stool to the counter where dad was sitting and stole a cucumber off of the cutting board Mom was cutting off of. "If this is an international uncle visiting day where is Brandon?" I asked with my mouth full. "He is coming up tomorrow but Connor can't come he has finals." Mom clarified.
She swatted my hand away when I went for another Cucumber. It fine though because when she turned around Aiden handed me some.
"When do the new members move in?" Mom asked when she turned back around. "This week, I'm thinking about putting them in the newly done housing," Dad said running his hand through his dark thick hair, he always did that when he was nervous or stressed about something.
"Did you meet the official newbies?" Aiden asked me. "No, Dad didn't introduce me to them."
"Why not?" Aiden asked before I had the chance to.
"It's just the two of them the oldest is very mature and the son that is a year younger than him seems like trouble." Sounds familiar. I really freaking hope it's not- "Their names are Jace and Aden."
Aiden gave me an amused knowing look and I hit my head on the counter.
"Do you know them?" Dad asked.
"Yes, dad unfortunately I do."
