Why did you still feel hurt? Why were you still feeling empty? You'd said what you wanted, but you almost felt guilty. Would that feeling ever go away?
"Not all fairytales have happy endings, darling," Millie caressed the side of your face and wiped your tears. She had a pity smile spread across her face. Somehow it made you feel even worse. "I have to ask, though, are you going tonight?" her voice was softer than usual. She was afraid to say something that might trigger you.
Suddenly, you remembered what tonight was. Calpurnia was having a concert. The whole group was going in support of Finn. The very thought of Finn brought tears to your eyes.
Millie sighed, "It's okay if you can't, I was just wondering. But if it makes a difference, I do really want you to go." My eyes met hers. She had her puppy dog eyes locked onto my bloodshot ones. Millie had been such an amazing friend to you these past couple of days. It was the least you could do for her. So, you slowly nodded as you wiped your tears with your sleeve. Maybe this wouldn't be terrible.
