Cole's PoV

Waves disrupt the portal, and I look up from the book I'm reading, to see Karn running out from the portal, a person in his arms. Jade.

"Shit, is she okay?" I exclaim as I leap to my feet, eyeing the blood covering her back and the burns all over her torso.

"No, I need your help healing her," he says, and I instantly grab onto his arm as he teleports us away. We end up in the medical room and he places her on the bed, instantly pulling out bandages and ointments, bags for fluids and needles. "Start healing what you can Cole, but there's a lot of stuff going through her veins, your magic might be blocked."

I stand beside her, my shaking hands hovering over and I gently rest them on her, my eyes widening as I see her mouth; it's been stitched together. "Karn, we gotta get that thread out of her lips," I tell him, magic rushing forward, and I close my eyes, focussing on her. I can only really heal what I know is damaged, so for now, I'm able to heal the different rope burns that cover her torso and wrists, but a small whimper falls from her when I move her hands, a very pained whine.

"Okay, her hands are damaged by the sound of it, but I can't see anything," I inform Karn.

"Alright, I'll hook her up to a healing drip, but for now, I don't want to add anymore drugs to her system, not before we get everything else out. This'll help hydrate  her, help flush the drugs out."

He steps forward, and hooks a drip up, slowly pushing the needle into her arm, the liquid slowly going down the tube and into her arm. Karn walks over, holding some sort of light that he holds up over her eyes. He gently opens her eyelids, shining the light over her pupils, looking at something. "Okay, she's unresponsive. Can you grab that magic detector we used for Brine?"

"Sure." I teleport out of the room, appearing in the room Hero was in, instantly seeing the sensor. I carefully grab it and teleport back to Karn with it in hand. He quickly starts to place all the sticky things on Jade's chest, near her heart. He slowly pushes a small sensing needle into her chest as well, the machine beeping rhythmically, my magic calming down a bit. Proof she's alive.

Karn hovers his hands over her, blue encompassing them and taking over the pupils in his eyes, a concentration that I won't dare disturb. "Shit," he mumbles, moving his hands across her body, down her arms and over her hands. "Fuck," he curses. He trails them down her legs, ending at her feet. "What did they do to you?" He breathes out as his pupils fill back in.

"Okay, she's got two crushed thumbs, severe sunburn, brandings, rope abrasions, an infected wound in her leg, her backs been damaged by some sort of trauma, plus what looks like whippings, too many bruises to count and a lot of broken bones. The main ones are the thumbs, jaw, nose, ribs and her right arm," he sums up, his magic already starting to heal her.

Suddenly, the door to the room bursts open, a fiery redhead charging into the room, magic distraught as he rushes to her side, eyes widening upon seeing her. "I didn't realise she was this bad," he says on a breath, running his fingers over her cheek.

"Nathan, I know she's your mate, but you need to step back so we can get her back to you, okay buddy?" Karn says to him. Nathan nods in response, his eyes still trained on Jade as I slowly move him to the other bed and sit him down there where he can still watch.

I start healing her ribs as Karn works on her face, cracking echoing in the room as the bones move themselves back together. It's really difficult though, more difficult than usual. I can only just get the ribs in their usual places and shapes, shallow and thin cracks still decorating them. "What the hell is that noise?" Nathan questions with worry, springing to his feet, eyes wide and looking straight at Jade.
