A few months later...I scoop the spider off my pillow, sitting down and placing the mob in my lap. They mildly growl under their breath in annoyance, opening a few of their eyes to glare at me. "Well I'm sorry, but I don't like finding all your black hair on my pillow." They roll the eyes they have open and nuzzle into my lap as I start stroking their back, and they fall asleep pretty easily again.
My door opens and I look up to see Gaby coming in. She eyes the spider that's curled up in my lap, laughing slightly to herself. She walks over, sitting next to me and patting the spider. "Spoiled little spider," she says to them in a English. They may not be able to understand her, but the thought is there. "Tara was wondering if you wanted to come with us to go to a nearby village? Have a bit of a girl's day?" she asks me, her green eyes meeting mine.
"That would be so good, I feel like we haven't gotten out of here in so long," I reply.
"Cool. Meet us at the portal in ten minutes." She gets off my bed and leaves me to get ready. I place Charlie back on my bed and tug my outdoor boots on along with my green jacket. I really like that jacket, it's so comfortable, and has definitely helped me stay camouflaged when I'm hunting. Also, it's starting to get into winter in the Overworld and I don't want to get cold. I run a brush through my hair, getting all the knots out. My magic puffs itself out and I chuckle slightly. It's always ready to protect me. I fasten my sword on my back, making sure it's secure in its sheath
I walk out of my room and towards the portal, but someone else crosses my path. "And where do you think you're going, young lady?" Dad asks, putting his hand on his hip and eyeing me with an eyebrow raised.
"To a nearby village to get away from you males for a while," I fire back, a smirk on my face.
"Oh really?"
"Really."
"And who's going to go with you?"
"I am you big asshole, now get out of the way," Tara laughs, walking over to me. She pushes past Dad, linking her arm in mine and brushing past Dad who moves out of our way. We walk over to the portal where Gaby is waiting with a smile on her face after watching that. Karn jogs up from a different hallway.
"Tara-"
"For the love of all that is holy," she mutters under her breath, my curiosity and amusement increasing.
"Please, Tarz, let's talk about thi-"
"I'm going to get some air," she says, loud enough for him to hear. Anger pours off her in thick waves and she steps closer to the portal.
"Tara, wait-"
She spins on her heel, staring Karn down who has moved closer, looking him dead in the eye. "No, you listen to me, I am going to get some damn air and you aren't going to fucken stop me. Because I'm a human and need fresh air that hasn't been underground, or where ever the fuck we are for thousands of years. And I'm going without you, because I am definitely going to explode soon."
"Everything okay?" Dad asks, worried.
"It's fine, Brine," she snipes out, quickly shutting Dad's mouth. "Girls, you don't have to come, but if you want to, I wouldn't mind," she offers, speaking softly to us.
"Uh-yeah, let's go," I reply, grabbing Gaby's hand and walking towards the portal, the tension in the air clogging my lungs.
Tara glares at Karn before turning on her heel and walking through the portal without looking back, the anger following. Karn lets out a heavy breath, his shoulders slumping slightly. Dad's eyes lock with mine. "Make sure she doesn't kill anyone," he warns me through our link.
